NYS Downward Mod--Even the OLD Form is OBSESSED with Health Insurance . .(General Rant)

thinkthrice's picture

Backstory: The BM and skids used to be on Chef's health insurance. At time of the split, he had a job with a major, global company so health insurance was relatively low cost. When they divorced, the BM still tried to sneak onto his health insurance a year later.

Eventually BM got a glimpse of reality that she could not be a professional stay-in-bed mom like she had been up to that point because Chef is blue collar and doesn't earn a white collar salary like some of the DHs on here that are basically still supporting the stay-in-bed BM who refuses to work. (no offense to those of you who are truly stay at home moms)

The BM had a pipe dream of being a millionaire and naming her own hours by opening a bakery and catering service right across the street from. . . you guessed it, SEVERAL THRIVING bakery and catering services. She went through with it despite advice to the contrary and it failed after less than 12 months, even after pouring money into it from her wealthy grandfather. Just a glimpse into the BM's intelligence and what I think of a bachelor's degree obtained after the year 1985, but I digress.

The BM eventually had one of her BFFs get her into the local CPS unit there as a caseworker with all the perqs and benefits including cadillac health insurance.

When Chef switched to his present small business job because he could no longer take the physical pounding of the old job, the health insurance there was unaffordable seeing that Chef earns 32K a year and pays 1K a month in CS.

So the three skids were put on BM's insurance and thusly Chef "compensated" her via CS.

That was written into the last CO.

Well the second I turn in the downward mod paperwork, the clerk immediately says "where's HIS health insurance paperwork?" Because the tendency is to ALWAYS put the skids on NCP biodad's insurance. Once again ASSUMING that biodad's job, pay and benefits will be BETTER than that of CP BM's. I explained that the skids are on the respondent's health insurance and nothing has changed as far as that goes. Got the "deer in the headlights" look by the clerk.

I filed the paperwork last Wednesday and haven't heard anything as of yet.

Geez! How ancient thought process can you GET??!! I ALWAYS carried the health insurance for my two bios because I was always the one employed and had the most stable job.

Because Chef doesn't "DO" paperwork. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of women who do the paperwork for their SO/DHs. I'm very good at legal, IRS, etc etc. paperwork.

Chef can barely write legibly.

And what if an attorney was presenting the paperwork for his client. Would he too get a "deer in the headlights" look?

Good point though, I think I'll make Chef file the next time. Chef is sure there won't be any "next time." I had to inform him that you have to petition to get CS turned off AFTER the "child" reaches 21. They don't just stop taking it out.

If nothing else changes that's at least three more times.

See that's where your SO and Chef differ. Chef would be happy to continue paying CS for the rest of his life (yes he said this) and he's even said he wouldn't have a problem bringing home SIX dollars a week after CS and taxes so long as he never has to face the BM in court again.

Problem is I have a problem with that and I've told him so. He said last week "I'm doing this for YOU!"

And I said: "It would make my head spin to know how fast you would be in court if you were living on your own"

I guess that is what pisses me off the most! I tried to collect CS from my ex husbands but they never rolled over. They actually fought me tooth and nail on it even if they didn't have a leg to stand on!

I never got CS, but here the BM, who is making a good 12K more than Chef and has married a six figure guy is getting CS without a so much as a "grunt" from Chef!!

I don't get it either. I worked full time and then some. Both my bios pulled As and Bs, advanced placement courses, etc. etc.

Chef's children have ALL Fs except for gym/chorus/band

A's and B's, plus advanced courses? That's great! Too bad they are doomed to earn their college degrees after 1985. Wink

Yeah I know, except I schooled them separately using a great set of books called "what every 4th grader should know." I started the series I think with the third grade. So I know they have a basic foundation of knowledge similar to what you would have received in parochial school in the fifties and sixties.

Stuff like this scares me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPq0_KbrRSk

Yep I knew--but for all of our gentle posters out there, I wanted to let them know there IS an alternative to the dumbed down public schools (if your child has to attend one)

HotMess's picture

Understood, but I have seen children thrive and fail in all kinds of educational environments, including homeschooling. It depends on the child, the family, the teacher, the school, and of course, the funding. Plenty of successful people come from public schools.

"Question is how does chef afford his expensive cooking ingredients and liquor with that little money left after child support?"

Chef lives well due to my wages. I should get to claim him on MY taxes as a dependent!!

it's amazing the looks you get when things dont follow the "assumed way" of doing it.

dh went to pick up paperwork since he is considering filing the claim for child support with CSE. they kept asking him "how far are YOU behind?" dumb bitches, but he set them straight.

NYS wants babymommas kept comfortably on their asses (or backs...) while the fathers work their fingers to the bone and pay out the ass to support everyone else 100%. if there's something slightly different than that, it freaks them out.
