It's Official: Prince Hygiene YSS 12, is "ADHD"

Which I think is more or less due to horrific diet, endless video games, no rest/bedtime structure and no discipline.

When I had this boy for a day (when he was 6), he was a completely different person. He didn't seek constant attention, played independently, behaved himself by the end of a day and exhibited manners. But that was because I had EXPECTATIONS of him, whereas the BM and Chef do not. He KNEW my "no" meant "no."

The report and "Section 504" paperwork stated that he has ADHD because he doesn't complete his classwork/homework and is often absent from school therefore he "lacks focus." However he can focus for hours at a time on television shows that he likes. He can focus on stuff he likes to do such as be in plays with a lead role.

Same ol' same ol. The BM doctor shopped until she got SD, now 16, labeled "learning disabled--other." NONE of the special classes have helped SD for WELL over seven years now. She blows them off too. That's right "parents." Just be your kid's bestest buddy and everything will work out JUST FINE!!

There needs to be more parents like that mom who slapped her kid upside his head during the Baltimore riots and fewer parents like the BFF BM and Chef.

I personally want to thank her!! It is something that I would have done had my son EVER done something like that. Our family tradition was to never embarrass/shame the family name which was drilled into me and thusly I drilled it into my now grown bios.

WTF...REALLY's picture

PEOPLE THAT DON'T REALLY WANT TO PARENT KIDS SHOULD NEVER HAVE THEM!!!!!!!

ok - got that out of my system. That BM is making a useless person to be in our world. Thanks BM

Love that woman...That is how parenting used to be and should go back to....My mom would have killed us if we embarrassed the family. Her favorite thing to say as we left the house was "don't do anything you can not come home and tell me about".

I think ADHD is a catch all now. BM had SS diagnosed with it when she could figure him out at 10. Now every once in awhile he uses it as an excuse. We shut it down quick.

A kid with genuine ADHD will have trouble focusing all the time. They can read a book or play a video game but if you watch they get distracted easily and are wiggly.

My son is like Mick Jagger on meth when unmedicated. He just can not keep his body still. Sad Even on meds he is FAR more hyper than NT kids.

My son was like that as well; he would jump up and down in place. When I asked him why he was doing that he would say "I don't know." Younger, more "enlightened" couples who didn't have children yet suggested he might be "hyperactive" as they used to call it.

They used to call it "boy energy" and it would dissipate via running around the house several times, doing chores, etc. We never had meds for it. But I suppose in today's sedentary society, it lends itself toward it.
