Make a Wish, Part III

Blog hog today...It's been a while, but there have been happenings with SD10's Make a Wish.

So SD gets a wish because of her heart condition, which was kind of a debacle from day 1 because she was dead-set on Disney (even though she isn't supposed to go on rides because of her heart condition.....) because Crazy talked her into it. SD didn't want to hear other suggestions, it was Disney or bust, and she was being kind of a brat about it. My SO signed the Wish paperwork, bowed out of the meeting with Crazy and the Wish people because him and Crazy do not get along whatsoever, and he didn't want to put a damper on SD's wish...plus, her mind was made up, she wanted Disney, and she wanted to go with her mom. Fine with us! One person's wish is another person's nightmare.

Well, somehow in the span of 1 day, SD completely had a change of heart. I kind of suspect she mentioned that we said she couldn't go on the rides, Crazy realized she wouldn't be able to sneak her on the rides after all, and started steering her towards other wishes. SD came to our house the day after the meeting with the Wish granters and told me that she told them her #1 wish was a service dog (what the WHAT??), her #2 wish was to be in a movie, and her #3 wish was Disney. Um, And where would this dog live?? I asked her that, and she said, at both houses. Ha! A dog is not living with us. We have 2 cats and the house is in my name. We are not getting a dog, because we don't want a dog, plus she doesn't need a service dog. Also, she never ran it past us at all. I did think her #2 choice would be pretty cool, I mean how many people can say they were in a movie? That is something she would have for her whole life. Way better than Disney, especially when she can't go on the rides.

Well last month, we got a call from Make a Wish saying that they could make her #1 wish happen, the service dog. Of course they could. My SO told them, "Yeah...absolutely not. She doesn't need a service dog, and this was never run past me. We just aren't having a dog, so that is going to be a hard no".  We never told SD about that call.

Last week, apparently they called Crazy and said they were working on her #2 wish, and SD needed to make a list of actresses/actors she might want to be in a movie or show with so they can check and see who might be filming. So I've been helping her brainstorm actresses, and of course she's picking all of these teeny-bop actresses no one has heard of, while I try to steer her towards Bradley Cooper or Jake Gyllenhaal, but so far they have not made the list.  *unknw*

So many people need service dogs and cannot get them, but they'd just hand one over to a kid *scratch_one-s_head*

We were a bit surprised too. I mean, I don't want to downplay her condition. It can be life-threatening. She has not had any complications since she was very young. I honestly don't know what a service dog would do for her, but she only would want it for the novelty of having a service dog, not out of need. It may as well be a regular old dog, she would be just as happy. See what I mean about this whole thing being a sh*t show....It really has been frustrating to watch it go down and not be able to reign it in, since she only seems to listen to Crazy.

I think the movie extra thing is a pretty sweet deal, but I would let her pick the actors/actresses she knows and relates to. God forbid she comes back and tells Crazy you told her who she has to be in a movie with...eye roll.

I'm just joking about Bradley Cooper and Jake because, well, I wouldn't mind seeing Bradley and Jake.  *blum3*   I just helped her think of some actresses that are in shows she likes to watch and then she chose if she wanted to add them to her list or not. I managed to refrain from suggesting she put Bradley and Jake on the list.   *biggrin*
