This week my YSS/23 reposted this message:
"There are some great kids who have a step parent who stepped in, stepped up and gave a shit."
This is the same kid who came over and did an awesome job mowing our front and back lawns. OK DH gave him $30 but still. He mowed before receiving the money. It was nice to come home to see that nice tidy lawn.

There is hope for them.

I cannot take all the credit. His father is a good man. YSS is marching to his own beat. He drives us crazy but he didn't have any money for Christmas and is dabbling in pastels. So his father and mother and I all got pictures he had drawn for Christmas.
So pretty much he is a great young man. He wasn't on the honor roll ever. He went through Summer School every year in high school. But he is an Eagle Scout and made sure both his mother AND I got and Eagle Scout Mom pin.
