SO - But she's trying to help! - Uh, no she's not!

I sometimes wonder what kind of stunts SO pulled while he was growing up. Did he not lie? Did he not push the boundaries? Did he not try to manipulate? I mean, I know he's not a tween girl, almost teen, but he shouldn't be that convinced by some of the bullshit SD12 pulls.

SO made dinner one night and had SD help him shuck corn, that's really all she did. So, since she really didn't help or cook, she's supposed to clean up, right? Well apparently she decided that helping to clean corn was "helping with dinner". Even said it. SO was watching sports, so, of course heard nothing.

Dishes are still there the next morning and we are at MY house. SD is sitting on the couch, SO is in the room too. I start doing the dishes from the night before. Putting what I could in the dishwasher, then starting on the ones I would wash by hand. There are no walls between the kitchen, dining room, and living room. It's like a great room concept, so nobody could miss that I was doing the dishes for 15 mins. When I am down to the last 3 dishes to wash by hand, SD comes over, asks what I want done with the food that is left on one of the final two. Told her to throw it in the trash, which she did and then came stood right next to me, literally touching me.

ME -"What do you need, SD?"
SD - "Nothing, I'm waiting to wash these dishes."
Me - "I'll get to them. I don't need you standing on top of me."
SD goes away but comes running back over when I reach for the next pan. "NO! I was going to wash those!"
Me - "Uh no you aren't! I've been doing the dishes over here for the last 15 mins and you want to come up when I have TWO left and 'help'?! No."
SO - comes over after SD fluffs out of the room in a huff. "she was just trying to help."
Me - with unbelieving look on my face, "uh, no she wasn't! she wanted to be able to say that SHE did the dishes, when in reality, she did 2!"
SO wisely walks away.

WTH, is he really that blind that he doesn't see these techniques? Is he that stupid? Afterwards, I calmly told SD that if she wanted to help me with the dishes, then she needed to get her butt over there when I started, not when I was almost done. Doing two dishes is not going to give you the credit on your chore chart for doing the dishes. If she wanted that credit, she should have been over here doing the dishes, not sitting on the couch. Then I pointed out to SO that she had said she helped with dinner last night, when she only did 1 thing. That it wasn't a secret I was over there doing dishes and she waited until the final two so she could say that she did it. So NO, she was not trying to help. Felt like hitting him in the head with a V8.

Ugggg I get this all the damm time. She wants to help Puhhhlease!!! She wants to stand over me and tell me how to do everything. Or start helping then run out to climb up her dads ass and leave me to finish and clean up. She doesn't want to do anything that isn't all about her the entire time. Why are men so stupid :? :? :?
