OT - favourite slow cooker recipes?

My mom gave me a slow cooker LAST Christmas, and I've never used it. (I've never used a slow cooker at all. I can cook, but I don't bother cause I live alone).

I'm finally busting it out this weekend. Can you tell me your favourite slow cooker recipes?  Doesn't matter what cuisine - just your top faves.

I'm even up for homemade dog food recipes!

Easiest is ham and beans.  Just Google it but throw in a ham hock, green beans, some chopped  up onion  and chicken broth.  They suggest various spices (onion powder, garlic powder salt prpper) but just turn it on and you're done.  About an hour before its done, throw in some potatoes.  Down home food.

Sometimes, I don't have a ham hock, just ham scraps.

Try Googling, it so easy and good.  Mac and cheese.  Really, anything.  Google easy crockpot dinners.

Is it salt pork?  Where I'm from, we have a dish that's slow cooked salt beef with turnip greens.

Just use some leftover ham pieces.  You don't need much.  Google easy crockpot recipes.  You'll be glad, it's all easy and good.

Get a slow cooker cookbook!  Get you know your cooker - mine cooks on the hot side so I usually shorten a long cook by an hour.

Easiest ribs:  two sides of pork ribs, slather in your favorite BBQ sauce, cook low and slow for 7 - 8 hours. Then put in a hot, 425 oven for about 20 min to finish.  It's not like making your own rub but it does the trick fast and plenty.

It's a Crock Pot. And that's such an easy recipe!  Should I add anything extra besides the bbq sauce (garlic or spices?).

I don't measure anything. I just toss a bunch of shit in and everything turns out great every time. 

White beans, molasses, tomato paste, garlic, onions, bay leaves and water to cook. I use my instantpot for this one as well. I will often put rice in my rice cooker and then put the beans on a bed of rice. 

Split green peas, onion, carrots, bay leaves, garlic, whatever seasoning you want, water to cook. It's an amazing soup. I have added other items that need dealing with in the next day or two. I've added parsnip and sweet potato and it turned out really good. 

I often do dahl and other soups.

DH does a lot of three ingredient slow cooker meals. We find tons of recipes on pinterest.

We throw in any kind of meat chunks on the bottom... mixed veggies...usually potatoes carrots onions... squirt some bbq sauce on it...or one of those sauce mix packs...then cover with water...leave it on low all day. When it's almost time to eat, we add a couple handfuls of frozen veg... the broccoli pea cauliflower etc mix... it's great!

I've started using the instant pot for most things that I used to use the Crock-Pot for period except for when I'm gone all day and I just want to come home to something that smells delicious.

One thing that doesn't quite come out right in the instant pot is lamb. It needs to be cooked slowly in order to be tender. I will get some lamb shanks or the shoulder slices and cook it with garlic onions oregano salt pepper and some potatoes. 

My other go-to in the Crock-Pot is a pot roast. If you just get the McCormick seasoning packet then add carrots celery mushrooms and potatoes then it always impresses people but it's super simple. That is definitely one of those heart through the stomach recipes!

Those packets are good! I just did pot roast last weekend like that. Roasted carrots and potatoes on the side.

Also... pork chops... cover with apple slices and sprinkle brown sugar... cover with water

When almost ready to serve, pull out the chops...take the leftover liquid and thicken with flour or cornstarch to make a gravy

With mashed potatoes and a salad. Yum!

Boneless skinless chicken breast or tenderloins. Depending on number of people. Your going to shred chicken at end and fill in hoagie rolls . Top with mozerella.

Completely Cover chicken in crock pot with chicken stock. 

Add 1/2 bottle if Italian dressing..sliced green and red peppers and onion s. On top.

Slow cook on med all day long from 8am until 5pm or cook on high for 4hrs. 

Shred chicken with two forks.  Add a little mayo on hoagie rolls. Fill with chicken, peppers, onions stuff...top with shreded cheese. 

*ham string beans and potatoes another favorite. Also. Roast, carrots, potatos*

Whole chicken simmered over nite. Then cooled and picked apart. Then add onions carrots rice garlic celery and some salt pepper and rosemary and cook for another 2 hours. Also ratatouille. Get a lb of 90/10 beef burger and throw in with a small can of tomato paste with chopped up eggplant zucchini summer squash onion bell peppers and a bay leaf with garlic seasoning rosemary and salt. You can use chicken broth or water. Fill about half way. Add a little rice and let cook a few hours on high. Serve both with garlic bread if wanted. I skip the rice and bread personally and still good since I can’t do many carb foods.

Fall the best time of the year for a one pot meal.

My favorite and had it last night is Beef and Barley soup but it is more like a stew.
