OT - Eff Off Monday

lieutenant_dad's picture

Sorry Aniki, need to rant and can't wait until Friday to do it.

Other folks: feel free to pile on if your week is starting out less than stellar.

Eff off to:

  • Infections during pregnancy. I got to spend two days in Labor and Delivery because an infected follicle in my bikini line because a raging infection that required IV antibiotics and two weeks on 4x daily oral antibiotics. Baby girl is fine and acting like nothing happened. I, however, feel like a freight train ran me over.
  • The economy. DH's company had to layoff a bunch of folks. DH's job is safe but he had to let people go AND his team is who processes equipment after layoffs. So big layoffs + smaller team + pregnant wife in the hospital = tired and wiped DH.
  • Did I also mention that DH's grandma died on Wednesday? So add that to the list...
  • The rest of my family also having a bad time. SIL's grandma died a few weeks ago and her aunt just died last week, too. Plus she just found out that she has degenerative discs in her back so she's feeling just grand ATM. My sister had to have an emergency wisdom tooth removal at the same time as needing new tires. She had money, and now she doesn't. My mom hit a deer this morning and totaled her car. My MIL is the one who lost her mom, so add that to the general malaise for my ILs.
  • Dogs having to grow older. My poor pup has had it rough with the weather changing and me being gone. She is 15 and you can tell life is getting hard for her. The rainbow bridge is closer than I'd like to admit. I'm hoping for one more holiday season.

That's it so far. Bring on the weekend already (but only if things will calm TF down).

Eff Off to:

1. Slogged sewars causing lateness.

2. People who are rude and take advantage.

3. People who gossip.

4. skids who give green light for activities then dont even tell you they dont want to...leaving you on the hook for a ticket to a major musical production.

lieutenant_dad's picture

I feel a blog brewing about you buying SD16 a ticket to something and her bailing last minute...

CLove's picture

the infections and your critter-kiddo.

I gifted and upgraded the ticket for a friend to the sold-out show. Shes a nice lady and I dont know what her finances are like, but I know shes a hard working nice person.

So, I dont think its even worth a blog at this point! She flat out did not respond and tonight shes with us for visitation. I predict she will be a full time room dweller for the entire week into the weekend.

The common cold.  It produces so much dang misery.

Lt Dad - Eesh, sorry about the bad spell hitting you.  Glad Baby Girl is oblivious.  Take care of yourself!

lieutenant_dad's picture

After going so long without a cold, anytime I get a sniffle now I feel awful!

I am trying to take care of myself. I'm feeling infinitely better. These last 10 weeks are going to kick my arse though...

Eff off to my DH being a Grade A Asshole.

And to dogs growing older- while not mine, my best friend adopted a dog 6 months ago, and last week it got very sick. After trying everything, they have to take her in this afternoon to put her down. After only 6 mos, just enough time to fall in love with her...

caninelover's picture

Sorry about the poor girl crossing the rainbow bridge too soon.

lieutenant_dad's picture

That is so very sad! I can't imagine. All I want to do is cuddle with my pup, but her hips hurt so she wants to be an arm's length away. Can still pet her. She still gets excited by treats and a short walk. Just hate watching her be in pain. It's still controlled well enough to not put her down, but still breaks my heart that I can't do more.

I hear you on the infected follicle! Who knew something like that could happen? Mine wasn't as bad as yours, I didn't end up in the hospital. But I had to do the long course of antibiotics. So glad you and baby are ok!

lieutenant_dad's picture

It was crazy! Started out like a big pimple early last week, got antibiotics for it Wednesday, and Friday I was in L&D triage with tachycardia! Never got a fever, but the infection spread about 1/3 up my leg. It was nuts! The doctors waffled on keeping me or sending me home with oral antibiotics at a higher dose. DH and I just said to keep me and make sure all was well. Glad I stayed because I feel so much better (and I got to listen to baby girl's heart on the monitor for most of the weekend - silver lining).

Unexpected expenses!

My car is still waiting to be fixed and it's going to cost a lot!

Eff off to the mechanics who are going to fix it.  They've had it for almost three freaking weeks.  If they had told me that they were behind I might have been able to find another shop to fix it.

Eff off to our lawn mower.  I hope a new carburetor and an oil change will fix it because if not we may need a new lawn mower.  We cannot afford another debt.

Eff off to anxiety and panic attacks, how I loathe you!

Eff off to getting older.  I went to the high school football game to see my DD march and it took me all weekend to recover.  I'm hoping that the post covid fatigue and weakness are gone.

lieutenant_dad's picture

I empathize so much with this. Unexpected expenses have been giving me big oofs recently, too. We've gotten stuck with this rotating amount of debt because everytime we can pay it down, something else pops up. It's not unmanageable, but it makes me nervous to have.

What a litany of misery! Here come a thousand virtual hugs, the best that I can provide from out here in The Great White North. (((((HUGS))))

On the plus side, Baby Girl has taken it all in her stride. Angel

lieutenant_dad's picture

Thanks Granny. She may be taking it in stride, but she is also getting really cramped in her quarters. While it is reassuring to feel her wiggle about, having a body part lodged in your rib cage or feeling her push ALL her limbs into my belly button for a big stretch while trying to recoup hasn't been the most pleasant experience. Especially in a hospital bed.

Lt Dad, you're gold. Thank you for posting! Between funerals, work, DH adjusting to his new job... I'm ready to throatpunch anyone who breathes in my vicinity. *dash1*

VERY glad to hear Baby Girl is doing well. Sorry you're dealing with infection and hope things improve ASAP! I'm so sorry for the loss of DH's grandma. {{{hugs}}}

Eff off to:

  • King Pita. Dammitall, I know how to do my job and I'm damn good at it. Why do you think my three previous bosses left me alone to bloody well do it?? Stop forwarding me emails I already get. Stop "reminding" or asking if I'm going to do something I've been doing every bloody week for the last 4 years. Please, KP, eff off. And when you get there, eff off from there, too. Keep effing off until you get back here. Then eff off again.
  • BioHo. If I ever run into that miserable lowlife POS skank in the middle of nowhere, pray that I have the strength to control my temper. Her teeth would look lovely in an x-ray of her lower intestines.
  • The keeps-getting-crappier economy and ever-rising prices. Air filters, toilet paper, lotion, butter, eggs... someone tell me wtf has not increased. Oh, yeah. My diminishing 401k. Makes me want to day drink.
  • Big ass jumping spiders. When you're in my house and YUGE and you're advancing/jumping on/at me,  I'm not "gently capturing and relocating outside" (my sisters can both eff off with that noise). I hyper-extended my index finger swinging the killing blow and finger is damn near double in size and bloody effing painful. DH is SOOOO looking forward to doing dishes.... NOT.

lieutenant_dad's picture

Throatpunch them all, Aniki! Sometimes you just have to choose violence (or a really strong drink; drink a second one for me). I think baby girl is channeling you because she has been practicing her karate moves a lot in the last week. She is willing to be of assistance if needed. Smile

Aniki-Moderator's picture

After the morning I had, I'm ready to throw back some tequila. *dash1*

I will take Baby Girl's assistance! Someone should crochet her some knee-high black booties with the Harley logo. Wink

Hugs to you, lieutenant_dad, and sending you positive vibes. Thank you for caring for everyone, especially when you have more than enough on your plate.

Lieutenant Dad - So sorry for all you are going through!  I will keep you in my thoughts and hope you are doing better soon.

I suffer from painful swollen cysts in my bikini line too. Its a thing that runs in my family. My sis had to have surgery on one that hardened and caused her daily pain. It sucks.I used to get it a lot more, plus bladder infections and UTI's... until I stopped drinking soda and stopped eating sugar. Now I rarely have issues. Also, don't shave down there - that will worsen it.

EFF OFF - to my SD"s who refuse to take mental health medication because the gravy train (BM) will not stop no matter how rude they are to her. Also, my SD16 who will not go to the doctor even though she is "tired all the time and too tired to drive to our house."

TheAccidentalSM's picture

Sorry for your infection.  Those things are SO painful.  I've never had to have an IV but ouch they hurt.  One word of warning, after I got my first follicle infection, I used to get infected in the same place if I got too stressed.  (No idea what why).  It got to the point where only had to phone the doctor to get a prescription.  It eventually stopped but until then I had to keep a watch on the follicle to catch the problem early.

EFF OFF to having two left feet.

I tripped over my own feet last week and broke my arm into 4 seperate pieces.  Had to be carted off to hospital in an ambulance, spend hours in the ER (was lovely as their was a drug seaker screaming in pretend pain to get opiates) and the wait for 2.5 days to get into surgery.  I've been operated on now and have more metal in my arm then the bionic woman.  And it is amazingly painful.

Silver lining is that I have a good excuse to work from home for the foreseable future.

Mr TASM has been an amazing nurse.  He deserves a medal for best DH ever. *give_rose*
