Driving me crazy

Kerrid04's picture

SD 5 was over at our house this weekend and she lives with MIL(Long story)well MIL implanted in SD head that she is her mom.She has SD call BM by her first name. Well it just gets under my skin when she says i want my mom which is really Grandma/nana. SD told my nephew that is 8, Kerri is not my mom but Insert my BD name is my sister. I didn't get mad because it is true but i have to admit it did hurt a little. Then Nephew asked where does you Mom live she Named the town where MIL lives.I know it's not her fault its what has been programed in her head but its weird to me she says my DH mom is also her mom ummm gross.i want to make a new rule in my house it's Nana not mom. don't get me wrong I'm not her mother but neither is her NANA.Then MIL has been so distant with BD that she is 6 months old today and has only seen her a few times. Hasn't bought her anything she just sends all of SD old toys over that are yellow and brown from MIL,FIL and BIL chain smoking in the house and not opening any windows for 5 years (another gross) and when DH says something to FIL about it he tells MIL and she says sorry i told you to clean them and what do you expect from me i work all the time (DH said something about MIL not making attempt to come visit BD) I don't even have time to see my own family to me she is saying DH & my BD are not her family. I just cant wait until Sd comes to live with us so we can get her into counseling but at the same time i have all the time in the world to wait since she doesn't listen to me and drives me crazy.I'm worried about what the new drama will be like when SD's BM gets out of prison in October and gets contact back because the prison she's in has lawyers there to talk to about getting your children back after incarceration.

I agree it is inappropriate for Nana to be called momma, however if nana is raising that child the child wants other children to know she has a "mama" at home too, like other children. I wouldn't confuse SD5 by having her call her caregiver Nana. Eventhough we all know she is not the mother, she has taken over the "mother" responsibilities, she has earned that name; eventhough it is not literally true. I would call a friend to gripe, but the child will suffer.
