One week

Well SD has been gone one whole week!!! We have heard nothing from her at all - she has made no attempt to contact her father. We actually got in there and cleaned her room and painted it over the weekend and my husband calls it the new guest room - I was a little nervous about it at first but he seems to be handling it very well and has been involved in fixing up the room.
I found out this week that she never attended prom. The prom that she spent weeks nagging about her dress. The prom that we spent $250 on a dress. The prom that her grandmother spent hours doing her hair and make-up. The prom that a friend set aside time to take pictures. Yes - she did wear the dress and have her hair and make-up done and take pictures but apparently after taking pictures she shucked the dress and went elsewhere. Now, I understand these kids showing up to the dance and taking pictures and leaving but she never even stepped foot in the door or near it. When I found this out I informed DH and he was none to happy about it.
I told him I don't know what is going on with her but I am extremely disappointed in her. He agreed that he feels the same way. I told him I was pretty much done with her - she will need us long before we need her.
Her high school graduation is this Saturday. After the prom incident I have to wonder if she is even planning on walking at graduation. I don't want to go at all. My mother-in-law has planned a cook-out at our house after graduation - not sure why because I highly doubt SD will show up at our house. Not to mention - I am leaving that evening for vacation with my mom. If I waste a whole day for this stupid graduation and she doesn't show up I am going to be one extremely pissed of beotch - especially when I could already be at my vacation destination soaking up some rays.
Of course I wonder how she will react if she does come to the house and sees that we have totally redone her room...oops hate it for ya!!!
I do know that it has been rather nice around my house since she left. That bedroom gets more natural light in it than it ever has. Things are less tense between myself and DH. It has just been all around wonderful!

It was such a change in the dynamic of the house when SD left. DH was sad, but the rest of the family was at peace. Enjoy the peace...

We went through this almost exactly the same as you. SD graduated high school and decided to live with us while in college and proceeded to ignore us for 3 months. We found out via text from her that she quit college (texted us from upstairs even). Almost immediately after we told her that she would have to start paying rent we noticed her bedroom slowly clearing out and my DH caught her and her bf moving her furniture out. And although my DH was in shock at first, he truly loves her being gone now. By the time she left she had treated him and i so badly it was "good riddance". We now no longer see her unless it's her birthday or Christmas or she needs something. We are getting ready to remodel her old room as a guest room/computer room and our house is now our home without all the stress of her being there and avoiding us.

My only bit of advice is this, don't bother going to her high school graduation. I went to my SD and it wouldn't have even mattered if I was there or not, she ignored all of us pretty much anyway and I had to put up with her BM and my nasty MIL.
