Snowed in day 2.5

Oh dear lord. So this morning DH said that YSD could go back to BMs in the break between storms. However we have to find someone with a 4 WD vehicle to get out. I said I would post on the neighborhood blog once a decision is made after breakfast. Three hours later no decision but DH wamts me to post something anyway. No, DH, not without a firm plan as i won't commit someone to helping 'just in case.'

He gets all snippy, 'what is your problem?' DH I wouldn't want to arrange my whole day around a maybe for someone else in this weather. And what is the plan anyway? No one knows. I think even BM doesn't know. YSD is counting on school tomorrow but with more snow that will be impossible as she has been told 20x.

DH then started asking ME questions about scheduling and weather and such. I noped out. Told him I am going to work on one of my projects for the day.

I mean, no, I'm out of it.

Add to this the neighborhood water pump has no electricity...so we are rationing water. Great fun.

OH, I see you are in Washington. I've been chuckling at the headlines about the "Epic Storm of the Century" in Seattle - 6-10 inches. lol.  That's a day ending in Y for us, not even likely to close schools.

I know it's all relative and you don't have resources to cope with it, like we do, but it's still kind of funny to those of us who live in snowy climates.

Lol, I'm from Minnesota, but now live in Georgia. I understand the humor you find in this storm of the century!

The state recently shut down because talks of snow. Schools closed. State offices closed. Likely grocery stores wiped clean of milk and bread (why only milk and bread, idk, but it always happens?).

Zero snow. But, even 2 INCHES here causes major issues.

Oh - I know. I have family in Atlanta and I was there last year right before a storm came through and shut them down.  I do get it, when you have 1 plow.

For some reason people here buy bread and milk too, even if it's just a simple storm.  I've never been stuck in the house for more than 24-36 hours here, even with 2 feet plus of snow, they clean it up so quickly.  Buffalo had that 7 feet plus storm a couple years ago, now THAT'S a storm of the century.

Highway 80 in the California Sierra mountains got almost 4 feet of snow in the last 24 hours, this is on top of the 5 feet from the previous storms. We call it Sierra cement, it has a very high moisture content and it's a SOB to plow and clear the roads, State of Washington probably has similar type of snow. Highway 80 and other mountain highways are closed, last time I checked.

I lived in Wyoming, as a kid, we had a lot of pea snow, but nothing compared to west coast heavy snow.

4 feet is a lot different than 6 inches! I don't care how heavy it is, 6 inches is nothing, here.

Someone is supposed to remain on stand-by for an unknown number of hours to potentially act as transport for his kid?  Wow.  Does he play "Hail to the Chief" every time she enters the room?  LOL

All right it all worked out. She's back at BMs not a moment too soon. Its blizzarding now.

We have 8" here now, 4" more expected by tomorrow. Then another 8" by Thursday. Freezing rain may happen in there too. Combined with all our hills, a good layer of ice underneath that, lack of road treatment, and even 4WD won't make it.

I grew up driving in snow and laughed at people who lived here too. My first experience sliding sideways down a moderate hill cured me of my folly.

Also lots of trees which are blown down into roads and power lines, branches too. Power outages are common. Add to that most water here where we are are on pumps, then the risk of no water is added. A family with a baby near us had to be rescued the other day, no water, no heat, no way of getting out. It can get serious quickly.
