Monterey County is now on "shelter in place orders"

The good and the bad:

1. In my job, with my organization, we are in the food provider industry, in a round about way. This is good news...read on to find out why...

2. In my area, in Santa Cruz County, they have instituted a "shelter in place" SIP, aka lockdown with fines and possible jail time, as of yesterday. The day before was San Francisco, about 80 or miles north of me. I think my hometown, Monterey County (moco), is next.

3. My job/oganization is considered an "essential industry", so with the mandatory SIP, I will still be required to go to work. Thats good news, because with all the cleansers, sanitizers, and knowledge, we have a pretty clean environment, with all our offices separated, the social distancing. No one visits us.

4. Dh is not, so if they institue the Sip to MoCo, he will be required to stay home and build my veggy boxes, plant the palm he just bought, clean the catboxes...etc. No shopping! Gasp. He is such a shopper, and loves having projects. He will probably clean the garage...Luckily between his vacation pay (he never vacations we were hoping to this year...oh well...) and sick leave (hes a tank) he has about a month of paid leave. So we are covered there, at least for about a month.

5. Munchkin SD13 has been quarantined at her mother, Toxic Troll's, apartment. With the new super young puppy she bought. Part husky, part samoyed. She named it Kahlua after the liquer...thats a 13-year old...ok. So the puppy is so young, no shots, so she doesnt go out with her at all. Yup, its a her, probably unspayed but whatever. At least munchkin isn telling me shes bored, lol.

I just worry, because as we have all noticed, these skids imprint heavily on the toxic mothers and munchkin and I had such a cool thing going. I feel her slipping away, day by day...

I am somewhat glued to the news, and watching things as closely as I can, in between doing my actual job. And for me, with being in agriculture, our season JUST started.

Im also a bit bummed as the gymn closed (not that I am going!) and the restaurants are closing, and my vulnerable friends are not doing well. So many of my friends are in the service industry, or own local businesses and are heavily affected with no $$$$ coming in. The area I am in relies so heavily on the tourist money, and guess what ASIAN money.

But for now, things are manageble. Keep us posted StepTalkers!

Glad you and hubby have at least a months cushion!  I need my garage cleaned too, but we both WFH.

LOL. Yeah but there is no commute now - so extra time!

Weve been having a lot of rain recently and so picking weeds was a priority. And digging holes.

Some ideas I have for nighttime include getting back on my writing and some beading.  Cleaning and organizing and filing. Learning the new camera that munchkin got. Learning/relearning spanish. New food recipes for our new instant pot.

Thanks for the positive vibes Auntie! Good luck in your WFH...lol.

My guy is super cute when planting...lol.

An apron however - it turns him on when I wash dishes..

He is on lockdown - I am not, so I need a list!

I'm in Santa Cruz County & work in Santa Clara County (but our org is actually in ALL the Counties experiencing SIP)...

I get to go to my office tomorrow, for up to 2 hours. I am absolutely THRILLED at the prospect! My husband is working from home, the kids are all home (school is supposed to start online next week... but the Spring Break & now Governor Newsom saying most likely no return to school this academic year...).

We're lucky because my husband's job is rock solid, especially in this time of needing telecommute options. I'm in management at a very large org that provides "essential services". Worried about our neighbors though...

And honestly, I don't have "skid problems" & BM is mostly gone (we pay but she never sees the kids, we would rather pay & have her be gone then rile her up by trying to stop CS) but I'm going to lose my mind, with these kids, if they really do lengthen the SIP & not send these kids back to school.

1 day down... 20 to go.

All my friends are being told to not go to work. One friend who lives alone has fallen and broke her hip, had to go to emergency surgery.

AND one friend needs oral surgery pronto.

Yes, its affecting friends and neighbors, and I wish I could help more.

Time to figure out places to hide (outdoors!)
