You worthless excuse of a mother...

UGH I'm so angry right now.

BM called us at 5 freaking out that she needed to get SD3 to the hospital RIGHT NOW and GBM is at work. She had a "high" fever and horrible pain in her right side.

My first thought? "Tylenol, luke warm bath, some prune juice. She's constipated."
BM's thought? "She needs surgery. She has appendicitis."

DH drove out to BM's and drove her and SD to the hospital. She was at 103 when DH got there (he took her temp to make sure BM wasn't just trying to pull her normal stupid stuff) but didn't seem to be in horrible pain, just tired and achy. DH pointed out that her throat was red with white spots so he guessed the fever was from strep. BM told him he was an idiot, she was the mom and she knew what strep looked like.

They took her to the hospital and the hospital gave her a Motrin and a steroid. They also had to catheterize her to get a urine sample since SD doesn't know how to use a potty. (Cue me wanting to drive up there and hug SD because no 3 year old should be put through that unnecessarily.) Fever broke about 10 minutes later. DH also brought up that SD doesn't eat fruit or veggies at BM's.

It's strep and she's constipated.

She put SD through all that bologna for strep and constipation...

Worthless... Psychotic... Horrible... Excuse... of... a... Mother.

I'm more pissed that A. She could have taken her this morning/ afternoon when GBM was home. She waited until she HAD to call DH for a ride. B. She could have taken her to her pediatrician or even an urgent care facility. She insisted they had to go to the ER. C. She told DH that he was an idiot for thinking it was strep and D. They had to catheterize SD3 because BM is too lazy to potty train.

BM didn't give her any tylenol at all today and gave her a hot bath before DH arrived (The fever was down to 101 when they took it at the hospital, I'm guessing it went up when she was in the bath). I've dealt with strep LOADS of times, so maybe I'm just desensitized to it, but I've never went to the ER for it. Always went to my regular doctor or the Urgent Care center.

As a quick aside...until SD is routinely potty trained next time (hopefully not a next time but anyway), sit SD on potty (hold her on so she sits steady), hold the cup in place, turn on water and pretty soon ta-da, pee.

My DD13 has never peed on demand well, but even now if she turns on the water, pretty quickly it does the trick.

GAH... DH is not her ex husband, he was only stupid enough to sleep with her, thankfully, not marry her! I'm his only wife.

But yes, that's exactly what she was pulling. She wanted DH to pay attention to her, even if it was by proxy of SD. Makes me madder than a hornet when she pulls this crap, especially when it puts SD in harms way.

I guess she doesn't know the number to get an ambulance? That should, for rational people, separate the real emergencies from the manipulated emergencies.
