My feelings on being a step parent

I would like to start off by first saying I am so thankful I have found this site,cause lord knows I need the encouragement as so many step parents do,but I would like to say I think & believe apart from just being a parent which is hard enough to me being a step parent can be even harder. I think the thing for me of being a Bio parent to 2 teenagers of my own & a stepparent to 4 adult children my struggle comes in of knowing my place & what my role needs to be in being a good parent to all our children. Also how do you handle adult step children who you know do not want to accept you & wont when you've been nothing but kind to them? I look forward to hearing other moms struggles,giving & sharing advice so if you like to write me please feel free to do so. Its just comforting to know as parents we are not alone!

Welcome! Smile there is an area here for issues with Adult Step children...It may help to post there too....Good Luck! We've all been in your newbee shoes full of hopes and dreams...getting advice has been very helpful....also there are several good books on being a "stepmom"...I've read a few in the past weeks and WISH I had read them YEARS ago!!!!
