trying to bond with SS without spending a ton of money

Okay, thank you all for the advice on my other post. Maybe so I can try to not feel so alienated, do you have any cheap ideas of things we could do as a family other then movies? SS is bored with the zoo (other family member had membership) I know we can do the beach, anybody have any 7yo friendly craft ideas that aren't ridiculously expensive?? I really want us to do things as a family unit but don't know where to start. Kite flying was an epic fail.

Board games can be expensive if you're trying to purchase a lot of them (if you don't have any already). To that end, look for them on Craigslist and similar sites, or find a coffeehouse that has a bunch and buy each of you a smoothie or something while you play.

Pinterest it! Seriously, every time I do, I come up with the cheapest, and most super fun crafts and projects to do. Like how to make bouncy balls home made or how to make your own super green slime, fun treats and snacks to make. Smile My skid loves some of the things we find/do.

Good luck!

Camping in the living room...growing plants for a garden from seeds...make your own homemade Photo Booth and take family pictures...sandcastle building contests...baking something special in the kitchen...have a "spa" day and put on green masks for facials and take goofy pics...reading books...story telling before bed where one person begins and then you each take turns telling a portion...have a tea party...buy a big box of second hand prom dresses and jewelry, ext...wrap each piece individually...open the box of clothes first..then play dress up for a fantasy birthday party for under 50.00...hide and go seek is always fun...have a treasure hunt in the back yard..
Make a dream book that has each one write down their deem house, car, favorite fashions cut out of magazines...dream job...catch some caterpillars and watch as they turn into butterflies...if anyone is musical...sing together...if not..play some fun music and dance like no one is watching...cherades is always a fun game...

cloud watching...go fishing...make smores...lemonade stand outside...yard sale...celebrate whatever national day it is like national donut day or pancake day...Celebrate something special like a good report card was called a "Banana split report card...we would celebrate a victory or milestone in each person's life...repurpose junk into stuff...wash the car and have a watertight...water balloon game/ tie each team together back to back and one has a butterfly net while the other tosses water balloons over their head/ whoever catches the most balloons wins!...balloons add fun to anything...bubbles do too...look for ways to celebrate the unnoticed or unexpected things in life..when it is my birthday I sent my mom a "It's a girl" card of congratulations and thanked her for raising me...take each kid out separately on a date night...build a turtle farm...if the kids say they are bored tell them to go and count the leaves on the tree outside and do not come in until they have an accurate number...have a reward jar filled with goodies to reward good behaviors that you want to see repeated...go do something nice for the elderly couple who lives closest to you...any kind of art project...have a car wash or do something to raise money for your favorite charity...do something to celebrate the grandparents..don't always make it about the kids....otherwise they will think it always has to be about them...do things that give them the gift of helping or honoring others.....take a walk...ride bikes together...pick wildflowers....talk.

Oh, I didn't mention video games...yeah, there is a reason for that..

You are as limited as your imagination...peace

We did a lot of outdoor stuff with SS and our nieces and nephews. Hikes in local parks, foscil hunting at the river, picnics at the lake, etc....

My mom does a lot of projects with the kids. Baking mostly. They bake project cookies and decorate them. A cookie tree for Christmas, just for fun stuff on random days, etc....

Marie Biscuits, icing glue and lots of little sweets to make faces is still fun and I'm 41 Blum 3 I love doing it with my kiddo and we love eating them!!

Condense milk + corn flakes/ rice crispies, mini marshmallows and cupcake cups are fun too Smile And just for extra use coconut shavings for hair. You can dye it different colours.

OMG that was always a fave of my kids, the younger two still love doing it - every time they have friends over it's "can we do biscuits!"
