What does your PP say about New Years?

Our parenting plan says that BM (non custodial parent) gets SS this year for 5 days. Is this normal? I would think it would just be Dec 31-Jan 1.

DHs says: odd years-BM, even years-DH; holidays commence at 6pm the night before and end 6pm the day of holiday. I know most others just divide up half of Winter break and that sounds like what yours is saying. Whoever has NYE/NY day has the child from them until the child goes back to school.

Dh's CO has winter break divided in 2, with 12/26 as the date of the switch. First "half" is school dismissal to 9 AM on 12/26. Second "half" is 12/26-night before the return to school. This year, that means 12/22-12/26 for BM and 12/26-1/2 for DH.

New years itself isn't mentioned in our CO.

Our CO said nothing about new years. The SpermClan's winter visitation schedule rotated between even and odd years. In even years they got the Skid from the day school was out until the 24th and in odd years they got him from the 26th until the day before school started. Usually NYD fell on their odd year visitation so they got him unless school started on Jan 2nd in which case they had to put him on a plane home to us on NYD.

Our CO initially stipulated no specific time for visitation to start or for the kid to be returned home to us. Due to games by SpermGrandHag we had to go back to the Judge for clarification. SpermGrandHag pulled it out of her ass that the Skid traveled to and from SpermLand visitation on our time rather than on the SpermIdiot's time. Nope, to us it was clear. To her ... not so much.

So back to the Judge we went. His clarification was that visitation commenced when the kid was either put on an airplane to SpermLand or was delivered to a SpermClan family member. When he was young and could not fly as an unaccompanied minor SpermGrandHag would send her father to pick him up or give a ticked to some random friend who had family in our city to come pick him up. Additional clarification was provided in an example in the revised visitation element of our CO.

Here is the revised section of our CO:

e. Times for beginning and ending visits shall be flexible to accommodate transportation arrangements. Visits shall end after an amount of time less than or equal to the period provided in this order. Thus, for example, a visit from September 25 through October 8 is a visit for two weeks, and petitioner shall be entitled to return of the child after 336 hours (24 x 14) has passed since petitioner released the child to the care of the respondent. Said differently, petitioner shall be entitled to return of the child on the final day of the visit, at or before the time at which she released the child to the respondents care on the first day of the visit.

SpermGrandHag was such a PITA over this that the Judge had to box her in with his revision. Even then we had to have the police pick up the kid several times over the years when SpermGrandHag failed to get him on the plane on time. Not something that the police or sheriff's office will usual do ... However, my DW's BFF is the daughter of the former county sheriff who then went on to be their home town chief of police after he retired from the Sheriff's office (he lost his 6th re-election bid).

We had the police collect the kid from SpermGrandHag's church in the middle of services, from family reunions, at her home in front of her neighbors, etc.... Eventually she learned. Public humiliation and maintaining the façade of being a decent family was her primary motivator.
