So SD15 called Thursday night at 11 pm and woke us to say, "DADDY!!!!!!!!! I am going to the ball Friday night (military ROTC) and I want you to come to the dance and see me in my dress!" A few questions were asked (is her date a boy? Remember she was dating the adult woman just last month) and she said, "Daddy! You are keeping me up. I have school tomorrow!"

So Friday morning over coffee after I sent Anastasia and Druscilla off to school and made sure Lucifer had his breakfast, I said to SO, "Are you really going to the actual dance? I don't think you should. Seeing her all dressed up in her dress is one thing. Encroaching on her date at the actual ball is another. He invited her and not you." At first he was all, "But that's what she wants". And So I had to say, "It's your job as parent to teach her social etiquette. I warned you about that when she orders steak and lobster when others treat for her dinner and you didn't listen to me. And he said ... wait for it.... "you are right." So yes he drove 45 minutes to see her at the hair salon where her mother works and dolled her all up and took pictures with her and then took his other daughter out to eat at McDonalds and didn't go to the dance like she wanted.

Also THursday, Anastasia (DD10) came home from 4th grade with a note. A little boy in her class wrote "Will you be my girlfriend?" (it was an actual note. Not a text message. Apparently I'm not the only parent to not buy her kid an iphone6 at 10) and she said, "yes." I was not privy to all this until I went through the parent pick up line and Druscilla (DD7) got in the car but Anastasia did not. She and my kindergartener regaled me with tales of the courtship and informed that Anastasia rode her bike to school and would be riding it home. As we drove back to the house, we got up with Anastasia and her young suitor on their bicycles. He escorted her home. Friday I pulled up to my home afterschool and was met by he and his mother. She spent a couple of hours in my home. We drank coffee and chatted. She has been dealing with PAS and just got her kids back from ex husband. I almost met her 17 year old daughter who is an honor student at our local highschool and she spent the day over as well playing with my baby and they hit it off. She offered to babysit Saturday and I took her up on the offer.

Saturday my childhood friends that I grew up with were in town and we had lunch together. But Saturday night I went to prom!!!!!!!!! That's right. Prom. A nightclub in my town had 80's Pretty in Pink Prom. So some girls from church (I teach Sunday school when I'm not trapping the man that I have lived with for 5 years with an illegitimate baby trying to get all married and stuff) came over and we donned our crazy prom dresses and the babysitter came over. This was the first night since the baby was born 8 months ago that SO and I went out without her. And it was so fun. You should have seen what everyone was wearing. SOme girls had crimped hair and leg warmers on. Some men were dressed in the mullet wigs. SOme guy had on a white jacket with the pink Miami Vice shirt. There was lots of fish nets and converses. Everyone was dressed outrageously retro. We danced to Madonna and Michael Jackson. They played Safety Dance and Come on Eileen. They even crowned a prom King and Queen. I was dressed like Molly Ringwald from Pretty in Pink. It was amazing. My old coworkers from the Sheriff's office were there. We were out to 2 am. I had some low carb beer! Lady Tremaine got to go to the ball, step talkers!!!!!

Sunday I took my kiddos fishing. Anastasia caught a catfish so big we had to use a net! I finished watching Outlander on Amazon Prime. I just loved the book and the series is just as good. I also got called into work for some overtime!!!!!! It was just an awesome weekend.

I followed your blog after you got back from Japan. You too deserved an awesome weekend! Go Us. I have had plenty of fights with my SO about being put on the back burner a little too much. Everyone came ahead of me on the totem pole be it kids, work, exwife, chores, etc. Admittedly teenage drama, new baby, we are building a weekender house on the river has made him busy. So I just started meeting new friends and just going places and doing things without him. Over the past few months I went to Venice Beach, Valdosta Georgia, south Florida, and Orlando. I bring my children with me. We aren't a sit at home and watch tv all the time family. We are on the go and living life and he sat up and took notice and decided to join me and make time. and I must confess, it true stereotypical form, my prom date (SO) may have gotten some. Wink
