BM and the case of the sick kid

BettyRay's picture

BM texts DH yesterday morning asking him if she should take SS9 to the doctor cause he's not feeling well. DH says yes take SS9 in.

DH, skids and I are leaving on a family vacation sunday. We don't want to travel with a sick kid.

Fast-forward to last night. DH calls BM to talk to SS9, see how he's doing. BM tells DH SS9 still feels sick but he didn't feel like going to the doctor so she didn't take him. Then BM goes on to tell DH, SS9 still has a headache, sore-throat, and tummy-ache. BM said she was pretty sure it's strep.

WTF!!!!! Since when does the CHILD get to DECIDE if they want to go to the doctor? And this coming from an RN, yes ladies and gents, BM is an RN - un.freakin.believe.able.

So since BM works today, now DH has to take SS9 to the walk-in clinic tonight after work and we'll probably have to post-pone our trip. NICE.

These are the times I'm happy we no longer have a BM to deal with. Who's the parent in that house? UGH!

It's called being passive-agressive. BM knows we're leaving on vacation and she was looking for some attention from DH. When DH didn't drop what he was doing, which was working BTW, she took it too a conclusion that suited her. Never mind that her son is sick, it's always about BM.

It's always the people who are supposed to know who are the worst. SS's BM is an RN as well and when ss had mono she didn't realize it until he was sick for like 3 wks then she sent him to our house where an infant was living without telling us he had mono. I found out from her facebook page what was wrong with him. She sent him to school with mono while he was still contagious and sick because she didn't want to find a sitter or cancel her plans with her boyfriend. This really makes me worry about healthcare in this country that they are health care professionals

If only DH would allow that but he wouldn't be able to enjoy himself if we took SS14 and left SS9 with BM.

Briarmommy - I agree. I wouldn't want BM to be my nurse. BM does this all the time when the boys are sick. She'll wait to give them over-the-counter meds. until it's too late and then they have to go to doctor. It hurts me to see them suffer like that.

My BM allows the kids to decide when or if they go to the dr too. And when or if they go to school. Arrrgh!
