Hello Steppers!

Its been awhile and happy to say that things are quite peaceful in our household.  Ugh - did I just jinx myself?

SS22 SBT 23 is still living with his GF and her parents.  She is currently in college for her masters and seeing how driven she is, SS22 decided to go back to college and is currently is his first semester.  Part time of course since he has to have a full time job to pay the rent and bills.  If you would have asked me 3 years ago, I could have sworn he would just have taken off and never heard from again.

SS27 is getting married in March.  Fathers day, while I was cooking, he walked up crying.  My stomach immediately dropped, the men in this family do not cry, and asked what was wrong. He asked me to walk with him down the isle and do the mother-son dance!!  I started crying, his dad started crying and SS22 just laughed at us, but was happy for me.

Sometimes things do work out and only you and your gut can tell you when to hang in there and when to give up.

BTW - anyone have any song ideas?:  I cant do the traditional mother-son songs but all I can come up with is ole JT - youve got a friend.

That's so touching!!! When I acted as MOG when SS26 got married, we danced to My Wish by Rascal Flatts.

Ani, I'm not a big Country and Western fan, but the lyrics of 'My Wish' would move a heart of stone. I really enjoyed both the melody and the engaging words. Thanks for the heads up!

That's the great for you! Glad things are looking up!

The only kind of dance I would personally do with any of my stepsons is dancing on their graves or at their funerals lol but to each their own

Rags, I LOVE that song! ‘Lean on Me’ was written and performed by Bill Withers in 1972. The first time that I heard it was at a tourist outlet in South Carolina, in April, 2024, when DH and I were vacationing in Myrtle Beach. The charming, black, store manager was blasting the tune on her stereo system and I was captivated! The rendition of ‘Lean on Me’ that she was playing was recorded by Michael Bolton in 1993.

As soon as we returned home, I bought the CD and played the tune at least a dozen times, nonstop.

After reading your post, I listened to Withers singing it and was impressed but, having first heard it sung by Michael Bolton, his interpretation is my preference. Please, do yourself a favour and check out Bolton’s rendition; it’s available on YouTube.

I like Bolton.  An interesting early career element for him is that he wanted to be a heavy metal vocalist.

I like the style of music that he succeeded in.
