Stop Listening to Background Noise from Your Husband's Former Wife

I've been working hard to clarify my thoughts about being a childless stepparent. One of my biggest challenges is dealing with my husband's former wife.

It was only recently - with the help of many people here on the forum - that I accepted I cannot control her behavior. I can only control my reaction to it. I can minimize her impact in my mind, my marriage, my home. That's empowering.

Here's a post that describes my realization.

You are using StepTalk to promote your blog. That's uncool. Flagged as offensive.

My apologies! I'm new here and was inspired to start my own blog. I won't share from now on - I didn't know that was against the rules.

Sooo cool. I did that in the late 50's while I was the fat kid in high school taking the bullying from the others. Realizing that I could care less what they thought was so liberating. It's served me well throughout the remaining years.

I advise it often but I'm never sure if they truly understand.

Liberating is the perfect way to describe it - thank you!

I'm so sorry you were bullied. You know what my husband says? I love this one:

"Other people's opinion of me is none of my business."
