Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

All our kids got laptops upon
All our kids got laptops upon graduation. My kids got Macs and the skids got PCs. Big difference in price but it was what each kid needed and they all use them all the time for Uni.
When BM moved to another town she took SDs laptop because SD could use the house computer. SD complained and asked DH for a new laptop. Nope, sorry get your's back from BM.
A couple of years later, SD had moved out on her own with roomates and her laptop (that she did get back) was toast. For Xmas we got her a new one, a Mac this time with the understanding that it was hers, not BMs. She said BM can't even use a Mac so no worries there.

I think it depends on the school and the kid. Both of mine used their laptops all through HS. They also used them for games, but definitely used for homework. Our HS, expects them to have something in class and most use tablets.
Both are honor students, so it has never been a problem...
That must be some online
That must be some online school if you don't need to go online to do your classwork.
Is DH sure she is actually enrolled in an online school?
Or is the school on (endless) fall break right now?
She really is enrolled. Dh
She really is enrolled. Dh sees the crappy grades she's making. She's averaging a high D at the moment.
Honestly, I'm enjoying it
Honestly, I'm enjoying it being my own personal inside joke. I think telling dh would just ruin it for me.
It's funny cuz puke can't say
It's funny cuz puke can't say anything about not being able access the social media sites or Skype to daddy cuz she's not supposed to be going to them on the laptop. School only. Family computer for that other stuff.
Even now I have the urge to bust out laughing.
