Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

I am stressing out about the fact that in July I'll have SD11 for our EOW, than a week vacation and then another weekend BACK TO BACK! Uugghhhhh I can't even imagine how I'm going to deal with that shit.
Me too - I think I could
Me too - I think I could survive EOW with the skids I have. Its the 3-4 days a week and DH leaving them with me alone all the time I can't deal with anymore.
I am just happy to get them into daycamp and hopefully carry that over when school starts up again - that is my first plan to regain some peace.

He starts work later now, 9am so that he can drive SS6 to the school BM put him in just out of our bus district. So now he comes home later, 6\7pm.
I receive the skids on our days around 3pm - which leaves me here with them for that duration. I also receive my bios. So its 4 kids. I work from home so I am physically here.
School ended officially today - I put my foot down and the skids are in daycamp - that was my first acheivment. I am hopeful that SS6 will continue when school starts and be signed into the after school program so that I don't have to pick him up or babysit 3-4 days a week for DH. If DH doesn't want him in camp - then I plan to strongly suggest he go with BM when DH is going to be unavailable for long durations in time (3-4 hours) becuase BM is not far from me and is at home and DH can pick him up on the way home.
I will not be able to control SD12 coming here after school - that one will happen if I am here at home physically or not. So I am not attempting to fight that one at this time.
Why are you watching them?

I'm in the same boat. I didn't add that my husband works ridiculous hours and is never home to spend time with his kids. So, it's always me taking care of everything.

We have my SDs four days a week and it seems daunting sometimes (especially bc we have them every weekend). I feel almost like it would be easier if we had them all the time because at least then there would be less turmoil of the back and forth.
