Why does everything have to be done for the SKs first

Wah-wah-11's picture

DH has decided the kids room needs redone ... So he goes and buys shelve things with the baskets for drawers for the skids room.. Now he's talking about new beds.. Next is new floors & then we can do our kids floor.. I mention that our kid will need a new bed at some point (he has a convertible crib that's converted to the toddler bed- that he doesn't sleep in) DH says he has a bed that he fits in. DH brings up the flooring and I said we should prob do his floor first bc the washer flooded and ran into his room and soaked his carpet ... Oooooh no we r gonna be working in their room so it makes since to do theirs while in there .. Mind you .. While I was pregnant we had to redo their bedroom so they wouldn't feel left out that the baby was getting a newly redone room.. Had to be done before the nursery because they were already here ..

I don't care that we are gonna redo their room but shit the bed It won't hurt them for the kid of nondivorced parents to get something 1st

And the fact that my FIL build them bunk beds during the 1st remodel of their room and they have destroyed them

Do the SKs live with you? Did he mention he was redoing their room BEFORE you wanted to redo your son's room? I don't think being a kid from non-divorced parents or being a stepkid should be a factor. They are ALL his kids.

They live with us half the week. If I had birthed all of his kids I don't think we would have to do everything for the older 2 first ... Do I care if they get ther room redone ? No but I do cRe that I said we needed to redo our kids floor and it turned into we have to do theirs right now when we talked about doing this at tax time and doing them all together ..

There's a double standard in our home .. They get by with so much bc DH and BM aren't together and he's afraid they will like her better .. And he even admits this ..

First of all my son never gets anything new except bday and Christmas ..I buy my child clothes from consignment sales and he gets hand me downs.. And I'm the 1st to run out if but my step kids new clothes. Is the carpet ruined .. No but I had already said something about redoing his floor... However the skids floor was not the one to get wet out child together was.. I would have redone my sons floor already however my money went to things the step kids needed. 1- new baby room couldn't be set up until they got a better room.. 2- I get told no on our kids room bc they need a new room .. But that makes me jealous ...Iim talkin about fixing stuff in our home in order of need instead of I don't want my kids from my first marriage to feel left out bc my kid with my current wife got something first .. Pretty much so what he said when it came to the nursery ...

Yes, it should be in order of need, however, after rereading your OP, he was in the middle of redoing their room before you said something about your son's floor. It does make sense if you guys area already working in their room to finish it, top to bottom.

You are totally entitled to your feelings. No one can change that and you shouldn't be ashamed of feeling that way. However, you really need to keep that to yourself or discuss it with your husband in a feeling kind of way instead of telling him a child of non-divorce should come first.

Actually ladies ... I've made several suggestions for bios sons floor months ago and he wouldn't let me bc he didn't like it. So after my stepchildren destroyed their beds and dressers he went and started in their rooms. Once again my child never gets anything first. NEVER...and yes I may not feel like redoing their room when they can't take care if anything .. DH has asked about putting our son in his room & out of our bed several times and I said not until we redo his floor ...
