So we had dinner with sil, her hubby and his 2 girls age 10. Sil is a new stepmom and I feel for her! She doesn't even see what she is getting into! We went to a restaurant his girls had been to many times before. (oh, the dad is non-custodial, btw). First, these girls were so immature- running around the fountain, making noises with their straws, nothing really annoying just silly. S soon as he toldthem to stop, they would. But hen the "daaaaaaadddddy" started....

Sd-daaaaddddy, i don't know what I want to eat!
bil- why don't you get the same thing as last time..
Sd- oh yeah.

Sd- daaaaddddyy, I don't want this bowl next to me, here.
Bil- just leave it nextro you, you don't have to eat it
sd- but daaaaddddy, I don't want it next to me
bil- just leave it sd

sd- daaaaddddy, I want some of YOUR food
bil- eat your food first.

Keep in mind they are almost talking baby talk. It was very entertaining for me since they were not my steps! Especially after reading some posts on here. These girls will be 11 in a few months. I'm SO glad I have a ss and not an sd!

Omgosh. I think the baby talk would be terrible. Thankfully my sd was 17 when we married so there was none of that. My daughter was always trying to keep up with her brothers, so it missed me there too. And the four boys didn't go there! That could have undone it all for me.

The baby talk and the 'dadddyyyy' just made me want to laugh. I have always enjoyed kids (just not my ss!) and only get bothered and annoyed by things my own kids and ss do. So seeing this behavior firsthand after reading some stories on here just made me laugh. Idk how my sil deals with it though. She seemed completely oblivious to it. I'll see how sil is after a year of this, I guess.

We never tolerated baby talk from our kid when he was in our home. When he was young he would leave for visitation with the SpermClan talking and come back pointing, grunting and crying. We told him to "use your words" and if he did not ask for what he wanted, he did not get it. It did not matter what he wanted including food or drink.

If he did not ask, he did not get it.
