Human milk for human babies

I just want to say that I will never forgive my husband for allowing his mother to ruin my breastfeeding experience. Yes, this is related to steptalk.org because she also encourages my step kids to fight my bio kid. I am an avid breastfeeder, and around 3 months of age she gave my baby all sorts of food behind my back. Skids later rubbed it in my face. At 5 months, she chewed steak, then gave it to my son to eat. Did I mention that she doesnt have teeth. I addressed the issue with my hsband and he, in my opinion, did not aggressively persue the issue. My son weaned himself from the breast at 4 months. I still pray that God would remove MIL and stepkids from their evil state and give me peace.

John Mayer is one of my favorite singers. But his fans were so disappointed when he had his Playboy Interview. What is really funny is that a whole bunch of people had to look up the definition of "napalm" after the John Mayer Playboy Interview got leaked. Apparently, we, as a nation, are really that dumb. It's a jellied form of gasoline that, when dropped and exploded, sticks to people in the area and burns them alive. (It takes more than a payday loans worth to undo the damage.) Jessica Simpson has laughed it off, and I think we're all waking up to the fact that Mayer isn't the brightest bulb in the box. He also, incidentally, isn't a great guitar player either or song writer. He isn't in Megadeth for a reason.

I would be really p.o.'d about that. Can you never let her be alone with your child? It sounds like you need to say something directly to her, if DH won't, just to set her and the skids straight! So sorry honey Sad

I breast fed all 3 of my children (they are 10,6 & 18 months). My DD was 16 months when she stopped (rather, I stopped her). I didn't give her any solid food for the first 6 months as that is what my doctor recommended (it can actually cause the gut to leak and food particles to enter the blood directly and will cause allergies later on). Some kids do self wean at an early age but I think having a full tummy from steak and whatever else would surely not help the situation. I mean really, if a baby is hungry and the only choice is breast milk or not, they will take the milk. I would be irrate with your MIL and she would never be left unsupervised with the baby again. I'm wondering if she will act this way in other situations.. a quick trip down the road without a car seat, a few minutes unsupervised in the bath tub ... whatever, I wouldn't trust her and I would tell her that.

"a quick trip down the road without a car seat, a few minutes unsupervised in the bath tub "
BINGO!
People who can not respect your rights as a parent should never be allowed to watch your kids. There are reasons for everything we do. It could be a simple as "Don't give Sally water after dinner time, she'll wet the bed" or as serious as "Jake's can't have peanuts, it'll kill him". But the big point is the fact that this is your child. Not hers. And NO she does not have so specail right to him.

Good luck lady. I hope things get easier for you soon!

Doctors do NOT recommend solid foods for infants until 6-9 months, there's scientific proof it causes allergies and diseases,in later life.
Breast Milk has everything a baby needs. Why would someone jeoperdize the health of their baby??. We have 6 month old Triplets and they just started eating cereal(rice) and now trying out One fruit, you try one at a time to check for allergies.

I cannot believe a Grandmother would take it upon herself to feed a Infant steak, chewed ( with another persons germs on it) Disgusting...or NOT. babies at that age cannot digest solid foods. That's why Parents have Pediatrician (specialists) in Infancy, developement, to gain knowledge.
You should go by what your Pediatrician recommends.

As for GRANNY I'd tell her BUTT out of you and your babies Life. She really has some nerve. She's lucky that baby didn't choke, get a blockage etc. Their Throats are NOT very big. And stomachs are about as big as a infants closed fist. NOT very big. Poor Infant. I would NEVER ALLOW THEM NEAR MY CHILD.
People feed solids early to get their babies to SLEEP BETTER.To me thats just plain being lazy,(you don't want to fed your baby every 2-4 hours as an infant or on demand then DON'T have any) their little stomachs are only as big as their fist closed..NOT large enough to contain solid foods. I was a breast feeding mom also( 3 )long term, and never ever gave Solid foods until the Pediatrician allowed it.
Nor did I allow anyone to feed My babies. I don't blame you for being angry at your husband or MIL...Both should be ashamed of themselves and they owe YOU a Appology.
I would also mention what happened to the pediatrican. Due to long term medical problem possibilty down the road & them feeding your child JUNK.
