Stupidity, Passive-Aggressiveness or Just Plain Carelessness?

Chef, who used to be an EXCELLENT handyman and could bang out a great job in NO time, has now become slower, and SLOWER and S-L-O-W-E-R. Not only that but QUALITY is definitely on the wane. Projects will be procrastinated for months and months (yep still the TWO tires wait to be put on the snowblower)

It is taking him FOR-EVER to simply put a toilet and utility sink back in, put down the peel and stick faux slate floor and put up some cedar paneling on approximately a 6" x 6" floor (the laundry room).

Which also happens to contain the two cats' litter box. I got a new litterbox because Chef was CONSTANTLY grumbling about the CatGenie. Now mind you, he doesn't do ANY pet care, other than let them out in the morning if they want to go outside.

I finally got rid of the CatGenie which I LoVeD. Yes it had some drawbacks--which Chef REFUSED to work with--he just unplugged the damn thing in the middle of a cycle--thus rendering the house without a litterbox.

So now I got the Omega Catlitter box with the litter genie. I still do all the feeding, watering, vet visits, including paying for all of the cat's supplies, food, vet visits, etc. I do the litterbox as well. I do the nail clipping and grooming/brushing. He will hold my older cat so I can clip her nails but that is about it.

So I come home on lunch today and find the litterbox BLOCKED OFF with the new littermat and the litter genie so that NO possible entrance can be had.

Of course I can't call him or text him and say "Hey, stupid, the cats are crossing their legs" OH NOOOO. That would be insulting to His Royal Majesty. So I text him saying "the cat litter box is blocked off?"

No response.

So I call him. "Is there something wrong with the new litter box?"

Chef: "No, why?"

Me: "Because it's blocked off and I know the cats didn't do it as they don't have opposable thumbs."

Chef: "OH, I was working on that room last night."

Me: (infuriated because the cats have gone all this time without a "toilet") "Ok, because the cats are crossing their legs."

Chef: (snickers) "Oh, ok."

SERIOUSLY CHEF?? And you know if they had inappropriately whizzed or pooed somewhere besides the litterbox, Chef would have a fit (and not clean it up of course, but demand that I clean it up ASAP)

Had that same situation over the weekend. BF gets up around 6am and takes the dogs into the living room with him but doesn't open the pet door so they can go out. SS wakes up and complains that one of the dogs pooped on his floor. I didn't clean it up. I'm not the stupid one that didn't let the dogs outside. But I did have to hear about how horrible it is to have three dogs, AGAIN.

Please wait until it's really icy and have him go put LOTS of Christmas lights on the roof. Give him his case of "thanks for doing a good job" beer BEFORE he goes up there.

HA! He only puts ONE Christmas light out. It's the large wreath I bought last year that he puts up on the garage. The Halloween BAT is still up there that he put up!

I put up all the other decorations, outside and inside. He helps put up the undecorated tree itself because I buy BIG ones (having not had holidays or Christmas as a child)

Believe me, I used to own my own rental property and did a LOT of my own repairs before there was such a thing as youtube.

But you'd THINK Chef would be EAGER to earn his keep!!!! Not so much.

Maybe he realizes he is on his last leg. Or is afraid you are going to give him the boot once all the handyman stuff is done. He SHOULD be worried!
