Semi O/T Spring is Here and Weeding is Cathartic

Spent yesterday and today weeding whilst Chef was on his jobs.  Sunday he works a second job to partially officially cover massive CS.   Cleaned out all the Creeping Charlie and Robin run the Hedge that was intermingled in my 100 sqft plot of raspberries which is next to my 75 foot plot of bee balm.  Note to self:   put mulch down sometime between dormant pruning and warm weather!!

Slapped on some sunscreen and bug spray along with my rose pruning leather gloves all the way up to past my elbows and away I went.  Perfect day for it today; cool, breezy and slightly overcast.  Asparagus is exploding so I will be freezing some of that today as well as some Cloud bread.

There are four cute little baby bluebirds in one of my bluebird nest boxes.  The hummingbirds are buzzing and the Orioles are back eating the grape jelly I put out for them in the feeder.

I've got all my vegetables in for the season; strawberries will be a bumper crop this year and I harvested my first rhubarb.

Now I just have to finish my hanging plants as I put my houseplants outside for a summer vacation.  Windows are washed and the laundry gets put out on the clothesline.

Ahhh Spring has Sprung!

Sounds wonderful. I kick a shovel to release stress and pay my daughter to pull creeping charlie. I can't do the down on my knees crawling around on the ground anymore.

The hummingbirds arrived in my yard about two weeks ago. Such a strange spring into summer here this year. We basically went from snow to heat.

I'm dying at the thought of your fresh round of rhubarb. My grandmother always made jams and pie and rhubarb cake. Can I say I'm totally jealous now. LOL.

Curious as your huge patch of monarda. Is it for the bees (hummers love it too) or do you use it somehow?

It's graduation day around here today. 105 degree heat index so far and pure sunshine. So glad DD's HS is air conditioned and it's being held in the gym. A couple towns near are using the football field. I'd totally melt.

DH has been annoying me since 5am this morning. He is trying so hard to help (he's such a sweetie) , but I'd be happy if he'd go get out of my way for a while.

Your garden sounds wonderful. Enjoy.

Always made rhubarb crisp.  On the Monarda I just use it to attract bees and Hummers plus I like the showy flowers

Sometines i think gardening is the on ly thing that keeps me sane.

Except that my new irises have been attacked by a stupid swarm of beetles. *stop*. Been beetle crushing a lot.

A bunch of caterpillars attacking one of my rose bushes!!  Irises those are some flowers I wish I had more of-- I noticed there are wild irises growing in the swampy areas behind my property
