O/T Craigslist Flakes (Pet Peeves/Vent)

Wondering if it's just me or if there truly are more Craigslist flakes out there? So much so that I had to make a blurb which I HATED to do. In fact, a flake who stood me up well past 10 p.m. last week had the nerve to text me and ask me if she can get the item today!!! Um, no.

You May be a Craigslist Flake:

1. If the item is large, (anything that would need a very large trunk or truck) and you overlook the charm of Craigslist (not having to pay shipping/taxes) by asking me if I will deliver it to you. If I wanted to schlep the item to a consignment store, I would have.

2. If you immediately lowball me to the point where I have become a charity. If I wanted to donate the item, I would have.

3. If you take more than 24 hours to buy the item. No, I’m not going to hold it till your next pay period with no deposit.

4. If you request to meet at oddball hours, (anything after 8 p.m. or before 7 a.m.) and the frosting on the flake—never showing up. I understand shift workers but as a former shift worker, you learn to accommodate the vast majority of A shift workers.

5. If you continue to contact me with questions after the purchase. If you wanted that sort of a deal you should have purchased at the mall.

I don’t mind if you ask if the item is still available—I’ve run into many who accidentally deleted their posting email and were unable to get rid of it.

I just posted about Craigslist last week. I had what I believe was a scammer who was trying to give me a $100 bill that was probably fake because I told him 2 times via email to bring the exact change ($60). When I told him no go, he said he would go and get change and come back, which he never did. Then he responded a week later to my same ad, with some other story. I guess he forgot he had already responded to me! Idiot. I flagged him.

Once DH met up to sell something and a guy followed him to the gas station. Not sure why. He paid DH the money. The sale was final. But he just parked his car to the side. DH saw him. Then he tried to follow him. DH lost him. He's lucky that he didnt show up at our house, DH would have made him regret that choice.

DH was looking for a car a couple of months ago. DH asked all kinds of questions. First the guy said the car was his and registered in his name. Then he had to back track because he then stated the car was actually his mom's and she would be asleep by the time we got there. So I asked if the registration or title had the current address on it or if he could get his mom's ID that should have the current address. He answered no. We tried to call him the next day, he did not answer. We think he was trying to scam us or anyone that answered the ad.

I concur! Used to be a great outlet for selling; and now it's a forum for bums to try and rip you off.

I use Craigslist all the time to buy stuff. I don't sell anything but I bought all my baby gear that way as well as a used Ipad for Christmas and a dining room table that is just so so so beautiful. I've been lucky thus far.

I did want to buy a bassinet when i was prego and the poster was all, I can't give you the address. You are going to have to come to this rural town and follow me back into the woods down a dirt path and was a little too interested in asking how far along I was and the sex of the baby so I skipped that purchase.

AWFUL!! The person that bought my neon showed up with his druggie girlfriend and immediately started asking me if I had any scrap metal that I didn't want. Um, Chef, you REALLY need to start learning to lock the house and car doors!!

Yeah, it's sketchy sometimes, but I've gotten two great clients from there in the "gigs" section. One I've worked for since 2009, and he's the best!

But as far as buying stuff?! Pshhh. I've had the worst experiences. Broke ass lawn mower and snow blowers...which of course, I didn't find out until much later. Sad

Moving_on said that police stations are being drop off spots now. I just saw that on the news in my area yesterday! That does sound helpful.

I like the police station idea. One ok thing about Chef. He can examine a car or small engine for sale and tell right away if it's a junker or not.
