Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

I feel your pain… our house isn’t even HALF the size of the kids mum’s, but because we have them the majority of the time we get saddled with ALL of the “stuff”!!! My rule of thumb is play your hearts out until bed time and then everything gets put back in their rooms… when I finally collapse on the couch at 9:30 with my glass of red I want it to look like and adult only dwelling!
(and if that means doing a massive *sweep* of crap into their closet or under their little beds, so be it!)
Well ... DH has a solution.
Well ... DH has a solution. If they are rotten, its THOSE toys we take away.
As for the ugly sweaters, if they should fall apart during a "laundry" accident then there isn't much that can be done.

DH found my “dirty little secret” over Christmas… the kid’s closets.
He found MOUNDS of swords, cap guns, basically anything that makes noise or that they can use to destroy our home but is allowed under the guise of a “toy”, piled up in the top portions of their closets (where they still can’t reach them). He got really heated too… “If you don’t like their stuff than just say so, don’t just toss it around like its trash”.
I pretended to be all hurt by the comment and said “I’m just afraid they’ll hurt themselves with those things… I put them up so they will be “monitored” while playing with them”. That seemed to pacify him a little.
lol that reminds me of what
lol that reminds me of what dh is doing when sd goes back to bm this weekend! bm asked if dh would get her some clothes and send them back (uh thats what CS is for!! but anyway) he was like SURE! we were planning on getting her new clothes anyway, so we are sending back all her old clothes that we had bought for her last year and some toys that she got for xmas (we dont have enough room for them here) so it all works out!
