OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES! (Right!)

TBabygrl1's picture

Ok so it started with the Skids not being able to go to sleep when I found out a couple of interesting things:

1. there are now 4 adults, 2 kids, and a baby living at BMs house. (mind you the house is a 3 bedroom.)Interesting because in California children of the opposite sex are not allowed to share rooms after the oldest one turns 5. So guess what is going on at BMs house...you guessed it the kids-all three-are sharing a room.

2. they have 4 dogs and 3 cats; which in California you need to have a kennel permit if you have more than 3 four legged creatures.

3. they have an electric fence around the backyard "to keep the dogs in the yard." (ya know because TRAINING a dog or in their case 4 is stupid.) When I say electic fence I don't mean, the one where the dog wears the collar and it gives them a jolt when they hit it, I am talking you touch it and you get a jolt dog or human. (Great idea with kids around!)

4. The baby they have there is a "family friends" who is to stay with them "for an undetermind amount of time." (Great to be nice to help someone out, but when your house is already beyond full, why?)

I swear BM is just making it so easy to take the kids from her. I just want to know if I should call CPS on her because of these different violations. What do you all think?

Call CPS and get the issue resolved. The non relatives should go. It chaps my butt when idiots, or anyone else for that matter, think that the rules don't apply to them.

Good luck.

Ditto... I'have done animal rescue for years and the limits vary by county and city. Never heard of the bedroom thing either!

These laws are what my sister learned from becoming a social worker. The ones I am talking about are no more than 3 years old at best. But I do live in so cal.

Do you have links to the laws?

I gotta tell you, So Cal is LOADED with immigrant families with multiple families sharing one house, one apartment, etc.
It's not uncommon to have an entire family share one bedroom.
I can't help but wonder about this law your sister told you about... how ON EARTH could CPS possibly keep up and investigate and remove kids in these situations?

Oh, and I'm interested in the kennel law... I've heard that more than 4 dogs MAY require a kennel permit, but not that 3 or more 4-footed creatures requires one. And, um, I am moving back there next month and will have WAY more than 3 animals in my home. Smile

That law only comes into play if you live in the projects or receive housing assistance such as section 8.

The state can't force people paying market rate rent (no govt hand out) to have a certain# of bedrooms.
