Are DH & I as heartless as we've been accused of?

simifan's picture

So, yesterday was the lying about FB & yet another issue of lying today. We have taken electronics, grounded, etc. nothing seems to faze her. Seems we need to be creative. SD16 was given several jumpers (uniform style) & turtlenecks (it is cold here in Jan.). This is to be her clothing for the next three weeks. One day for each month of sneaking & one day each for the straight out lying. We are cold, heartless, unforgiving... waa waa waa, i kinda tuned it out. So, before either one of us has second thoughts... is it really that terrible ?!?!

When I caught my bio-son saying a curse word I made him eat a can of spinich! Maybe you could try that for the lying. Smile It went over very well.....not. He refuses to say a bad word again.

I don't think that you are being heartless at all.

Thanks for the replies... I'll be sure to let SD know she shouldn't be so upset, she's now trend setting LOL....

We were called 'self-centered, cruel, and inhuman' by SDSpawn11's BD when we put her in time-out for being disrespectful and then physical with her mother. I can't wait for these Golden Children to live in the real world - a world that didn't produce their whining, spoiled asses. }:)

Make sure to take her shopping or out to dinner in those nice jumpers and turtlenecks. }:)

There's no way that would have worked with ours when she was 16. She'd have flat out refused to leave the house. Or she'd have a friend bring clothes to the bus stop. Or she'd climb out the window in the night and go live with her mom until the punishment period was over and daddy was so happy to have her back that he didn't reinstate it (oh wait, that did happen in my house) Wink

Uh cruel and heartless is when you deny the child of food and love.

Humiliation is uncomfortable, but if it is what teaches her to modify her behavior....

I have had 3 teenage girls. I'm not about really humiliating them in public, but what I do do, is cut off their phone in an instant if they are disrespectful or misbehave....they HATE that!!!

My girls are 21, 19, and 18 now, and we rarely have to resort to that anymore, they just don't require it, but at 16.....ATT knows me...and I say we lost the phone again!!! LOL works like a charm.
