The Fresh Start Effect….. Or what I have long referred to as the Do Over.

As many of you probably have discerned, I do not have a huge amount of value for what I refer to as the pseudo sciences. However, I think this article addresses a very important and powerful tool and perspective on life.

In a nutshell what I get out of this is that it is very powerful to take every opportunity to make a fresh start on anything in your life that is not working for you as well as you would like. Personal performance, relationships, etc….

This includes spousal or SO relationships, kid/Skid relationships, work performance, financial performance, etc… It works for everything IMHO. This is not to say that I think that a do-over or fresh start requires that a person ditch their spouse, dump their kids, purge their Skid’s from their lives, etc… Far from it. What I mean by a fresh start or do-over is to quit doing things that have repeatedly not worked for you, change what you are doing regarding that activity or part of your life and how you are doing it, hold yourself and everyone else accountable for behaving acceptably, and … step up to a higher level of expectation and performance from ourselves and others in our lives.

As for ditching the spouse, dumping the kids, and purging the Skids … if they fail to step up then a fresh start or do-over may require that ditching, dumping, and purging has to happen. It is their decision whether they step up or not. It is our decision as to whether or not we will tolerate their failure to step up.

Please let me know your thoughts on the topic and article.

Thanks,
Rags

Oh yes, it is definately a sound bite touch on the topic. Yahoo, among others, caters to the short attention span that has evolved in our culture it seems.

Thanks for the responses.
