OT- What activities did your kids/you love the most when they were small

I am trying to plan out Christmas gifts for this year. I want to avoid the piles of crap and toys that will be played with once. We have so much stuff.

So I thought that signed my boys up for a class or activity or two would be a great way to have them get the most out of a gift. That way they will have fun and learn something for several weeks rather than throw the gift in the toy chest in ten minutes. I need some idea of what you think would be fun, worthwhile etc.

My older son is 4.5 and very active and coordinated. My younger son is 18 months. Bs4 has expressed interest in rock climbing, do you think he's too young for lessons?

Do you have a YMCA membership? That way you can do all sorts of classes with the kids through out the year. Our Y offers rock climbing (smallish wall- maybe 1.5 stories), swimming, gymnastics, martial arts, etc. When you are a member the 6 week sessions are normally around $15.

At your kids age my boys loved swimming and Jiu Jitsu.

Family zoo membership, concert tickets, movie tickets, pool membership, etc. would all make memorable gifts!
