question for you all
question for anyone who has an opinion on this ok i am remarried to DH my daughter calls DH dad she does not remember her bio dad once we split he never wanted contact with her so when me and DH got together my daughter started calling him dad we talked about this and decided this was a fine thing for her to do because kids do need a dad in there life... but i had a baby book with pics of her and her bio dad in it i put these away and saved them for her along with my old wedding ring i thought when she gets older eventually i will have to have that talk of that DH isnt her bio dad but he's been the one raising her and all of that but we are trying now to change her last name to me and DH's last name... should i keep the ring to give to my daughter later on in life so she has something from bio dad or not??????????
anyones thoughts are welcome on this because me and DH cant decide....

she does not know that DH is not her bio dad she's only 4 so i'm waiting till she can understand it better and i'm taking him to court to change her last name if he'll come i doubt.... i talked to a lawyer about DH adopting her the lawyer said its pretty much impossible w/o the bio dad writing something ok'ing it which even tho he never has contact nor has ever tried to have contact he wont do it it's just the kind of worthless dad... wait person not dad he doesnt qualify for being called dad anymore... he is

i guess i wasnt really clear
i guess i wasnt really clear about bio dad he has open warrents here and in several other states i have a order of protection on him so we dont have contact with each other i have no clue where he is last i heard in some other state, he does not pay child support well he did once cs found out where he was working garnished his wages n he quit his job as soon as they did so he wouldnt have to pay for it, i'm doing the name change by notice of publication since no one can find him..

the courts in this area wont do it we are eventually going to try but my lawyer said it would have to be up to like 15yrs without him having contact with her before we can even think about trying to get everything taken away from him and the family thing wont work he doesnt have contact with them either
