Skids and health insurance

So Trashionista has decided that she will not have skids on her insurance anymore. It's up to DH whether to put them on his, a high-deductible plan, or to ask if I would put them on mine ($100 more per month but no deductible).

Skids are accident-prone, impulsive, frankly not that bright. I have no doubt that we will save money in the long run if we pay upfront rather than deductible. It will be next-to-impossible to collect Trashionista's share either way as she will *have* to play games (narcissist's code!) so what I'm wondering is: does anyone have advice for or against putting skids on stepmom's insurance? Thank you in advance and happy Thanksgiving to the American steptalkers!

I carried SD because it was best for our family.

For only $100 a month, I'd TOTALLY do it!

Ugh I wish. No, my plan is only $100 MORE than the high deductible plan per month....I wish it was $100!!!!!

I agree. Id add them!!! $100 a month is kinda a steal. Cons might be that you could become responsible for any bills DH or BM if they don't pay? Something to think about. But sounds like she's already worthless to pay her portion anyways. For giggles, why did she take them off? Who is ordered to pay for the skids health ins?

All in all tho, I'd still do it. ERs are dangerously expensive.

She will have your insurance cards, thusly she will have access to your insurance company. There have been many stories on here about ex's calling and pretending to be SM with the insurance company, then ending up getting all sorts of info she shouldn't have.

Make sure if you do it, you set up a password on your account with the insurance company so you are better able to thwart any "Not-MLJ" calls about your account.

My SS is on my insurance as an addition to my DH's, we live in Canada so it is a bit different. Our insurance is just for dental, eyes, or for semi-private hospital stays as all other expenses are pretty much covered by our government.
