CDL testing for FDH

MamaFox's picture

Lord help me. I've been doing so good. I'm having FDH take the CDL practice tests. With being functionally illiterate, he is stressing out so hard.

I'm reading the questions and answers for him, and he picks the answers. He is actually passing them 80% of the time. It's just the reading that's killing him.

Any idea if at the dmv, they will read him the test due to his dyslexia or not?

Yes, My DH had this same problem only he is too embarrassed to ask anyone at the DMV for help. Good thing about the CDLs and HazMat is in certain states you can take them as many times as you like and just sit and retake until you pass. Some states you have to come back the next day and I think one state he took it in you have to wait three days then come back.

Good luck to him!

He'll be taking General CDL, HazMat and Air Breaks for now. I'm very excited for him. He's never really been able to have the opportunity to make more than slightly above min wage what with his disability. And after the wood shop we both worked at (where we met) closed down, we were very worried he would never find a place where he would get the same wage (much higher than min, due to our bosses being practically family, knowing FDH for more than 10 years).

We're very lucky his new company offered him CDL training, and with FDH already having his Heavy Equipment Op licensing, He'll be a perfect owner/operator one day.

Pray for us! I'm sure he'll do fine, but never hurts to have lots of good thoughts spread around! Smile

and thanks Pinkie, It's good to hear of someone else with FDH's disability doing well on the CDL tests.
