moved my baby in her new room :)

lucija's picture

i moved the baby into the room SD15 gave up. I put the things there this morning, and this is the first night that baby will be sleeping there. Smile I'm planning on spending most of the night upstairs, just to see how she adapts and if everything is OK. I'm really really happy and excited. Biggrin

The only problem I may have with this is that SDs are generally loud, which is more disturbing at night when they should be quiet, because there are no other noises in the house except theirs. Door slamming, yelling, screaming, laughing, etc. I'm worried that may wake up the baby or disturb her if she's already awake. Plus they always come late (well SD9 doesn't but the older two do), and walk around the floor getting comfy and stuff.

i'm hoping it won't cause a problem but i'm already thinking of how would I deal with it if it happens. it just seems likely that the baby will be upset by the noises and movements that never stop.
but ill deal with it when it happens. if it happens. hoping that it doesnt, but knowing my SDs... :? its not that unlikely.

plus the room is right in between SD15 and SD18's rooms.

to be honest, i've never heard of white noise machines until now, and i've been told all my life that fans aren't healthy even for adults so i wouldn't have it in the baby's room.
but i figured i can play some nicee calming music so that the baby can listen to that. Smile

That should work. But if you can get one, (order online) white noise machines are fantastic. It just sort of creates a low hum that drowns out voices and other noise from other rooms.

HOnestly a screaming baby might help teach your SD's to be more quiet since it may also interupt there sleep sometimes aswell. They might be more aware of how much noise they make after a few late night wake ups.....

It doesn't sound to me like she has any reason to believe they would hurt a baby. They are just selfish and loud. Not good traits but that doesn't make them baby hurters!:-) I bet this will teach them to lower their volume. And the baby needs to also learn that the world doesn't revolve around him/her and many children from large families learn to sleep with noise around them.

She did seem intimidated but I think she really hadn't found her voice. When she spoke up it didn't seem like they gave her a hard time. I think she just needed to be a little more assertive to realize the power she has. But, with all that said, I think she should keep a close eye on things.

i don't think they would hurt a baby. they're not THAT sick, they're just defiant bitches. still, i'll keep an eye on my baby during the night.

I do think they would be capable of hurting me, and very ready to do it in case they felt attacked by me, that's why i don't even think of trying to be their boss. they don't accept it and they do tend to be a bit aggressive, and have a history of physical fighting, so that's why i'm a bit intimidated. though it's not the same to fight a grown person and hit a baby. that's not something i think they would do.

We never kept the house quiet when my kids were little. Helped them learn to sleep through just about everything. So either the baby learns to sleep through it or the screaming of a baby teaches them to be quieter.

I have to agree, I did the same with my daughter. Even today the only time I get quiet is right when she is falling asleep but once she is out the noise level goes back to normal. I did leave the tv on her room when she was falling asleep when she was a baby up until the past few months. It helped when we lived in an apartment and we had noisy neighbors.

I had been following this, and had not realized the baby was already here. How do they treat her?

lucija's picture

i will try to tell them if there's a need for that. thanks.

your SD is the one that laughs like a maniac at korean shows, right? Biggrin

lucija's picture

nope.
not only they don't see her as their sister and one of them, they act as if she doesn't exist.

they refer to the room as "lucija's room".

I was thinking maybe it was a really young baby. At that age, they are so darn cute and engaging. Hard to believe the haven't softened yet. But oh well, their loss. Your baby will barely remember them and care less.

lucija's picture

She is cute! and SDs are usually pretty good with babies, have interest in them, play, etc. but not with my baby.
oh well.

That really sucks. They are just trying to freeze you out. But they will eventually realize that you wear the pants in that house and hopefully will respect you more and start warming up to your little girl.

ah honestly after everything ive been through with them ill be satisfied if they refrain from starting crap. im so sick of Sd15 and her need for constant drama and action. the way she is... its better not to get too close with her. shes a terrible influence.
i wish it was different, that my baby really had sisters..but i dont even dare to hope for something like that from them.
maybe SD9 if shes ever free from SD15s influence (read control). she seems like a sweet girl but her sisters ruin her.

And here I thought you were still pregnant.

One of the best pieces of advice I got when my DS was born was to NOT be quiet when he was sleeping. I am a very light sleeper and figured he'd be the same way. But he sleeps like the dead and through any kind of noise.

lucija's picture

honestly, the noise they make is disturbing even for DH and me. it's just not normal, at least in my opinion, to bang every door possible in the middle of the night. people complain about such neighbors so i guess i'm not the only one..
