How to help my SO

So, I'm new at this and ever though I'm not a stepmother I'm with a man who has a daughter. Him and his ex had a baby when they were young and he hasn't been able to see her because BM won't let him. I told him to text her and call her to try to talk about letting him see her a certain number of hours a week (he doens't have a set day off at work so certain days wouldn't work) she hasn't been responding to anything. And I told him that if she doesn't answer within the next couple of days to bring up the fact that if she's not going to handle this like an adult that he's going to take her to court. He doens't want to fight and he doesn't want full custody (not that he doesn't want her all the time, that's just not what he's looking for) he just wants to be able to spend time with his daughter. What are the chances of him getting a contact order? I dont want him to go talk to a judge and them tell him no, he really wants to spend time with her, and he pays his child support on time (but according to BM 'she doesn't get it' which is a lie) And also, how would he go about setting everything up? Thank you for your help I just really wanna get this taken care of so that his little girl understand that he does love her and wants to be there for her.

Go to your states court website. That would be a good start for him. They generally have some information about visitation and child support. In my SO's state he just filled in the forms online, printed and mailed them out with the appropriate money of course.

Unless there is a threat of abuse of some sort there really should be no reason why they would say no. Sometimes after a father hasn't spent time with the child because of himself or the BM they start out slow, a couple hours 1 day a week and then build on that so the child has time to acclimate.

I'll look it up and see what our state says about it. No he hasn't hurt her at all, BM is just being a bitch (excuse my language). And that's what I was afraid of, that he's going to need a lawyer. I agree, my dad lived in another town when I was younger but I still got to see him. I just really want her to know that her moms new....whatever he is...isn't her dad.
