Everything was going so well

Lately-with DH NOT babying a 17 year old young man-until dinner last night.

I had made a roast leg of lamb and all the trimmings for our "Sunday Family Dinner" (DH has a Waltons fantasy about family) whereby Zippy graces us with his presence actually leaving his video games that he plays 24/7.

DH and I get everything to the table and there are three baked potatoes-DH is handing them out-I ask for the smallest one-DH then proceeds to put on this baby voice as he places Zippy's potato on his plate "AND I AM GIVING "THE BOY" THE BIIIG POTATO BECAUSE HE IS A BIG BOY"

ME

I try to remain gracious while Entitled Zippy looks on.

I put mint sauce on the table-the real kind with actual herbed mint-I try it and it is good-so I tell DH-

He says: "Endora, I guess we don't have any of that mint jelly...

I know where he is going with this

We were were dating and Zippy was 14 going on 3-when DH made lamb he bought the ED Smith green mint jelly-that is basically mint oil and sugar (to those who like that stuff -I am sure it has it's place), because Zippy would only eat lamb with a jar of that on pasted on the meat.

DH "Thats what "My Boy" likes on his lamb

Me:

BTW-Zippy proceeds to cut his "Big Boy Potato" in half and leaves the other half uneaten-then makes himself a huge bowl of dessert that he takes downstairs not saying a word to either of us.

It is that kind of behavior that makes me want to take a shovel to DH's head-

It is okay to love your kid (say it and give him a big old hug) but babying him is ridiculous!

When DH acts like that I need a box of Gravol just to sit through it.

I don't see how you kept from gagging....the good news is that big boy should be leaving home soon..
