ExH has two brain aneurysms OT

Cooooookies's picture

He's spent a few nights in a Chicago hospital.  Had a spinal tap that was inconclusive.  So they stuck something up his leg to his brain and found two of them.  Last week, one ruptured which gave him the worst head pain of his life.  There doesn't seem to be any damage so far since the rupture.

I've been reading about brain aneurysms but it doesn't really give clear answers as to fatality and life expectancy.  I suppose it just depends if they can be treated, if they don't rupture, if no more form...if if if.  I'm so upset for DS...he turns 18 in just a few weeks.  I thought I was young at 38 to lose my dad but this...well it's awful.

I just happen to be flying to America this Sunday and will spend a week there.  I guess I'll know a bit more in the days to come.  Apparently they've sent exH home and he has to rest.  He cannot do strenuous work or get stressed as both could kill him.  Unbelievable.  I'm still in shock and feel awful for my DS.

That is awful. I hope he will be okay.

I have known somebody who had a brain aneurysm and he recovered just fine, so it is possible. But, yes, there are a lot of "ifs".

Thanks, hereiam.  It's good to know someone has survived them.  It just sounds so frightening and, well, fatal.

Cooooookies, a friend of mine had a brain aneurysm almost 12 years ago. She had her first child 10 years ago and is leading a healthy, productive life. Her biggest gripe is that she had to give up her Monster Energy drinks (blech).

So, there is a possibilty your exh will be okay with proper care and lifestyle changes. For the sake of your DS, I hope so. xoxo

OMG, how scary! He's lucky to be alive! I hope everything turns out well, and he's OK. My mom had a brain aneurysm 28 years ago and is fine, so it's possible. Hers was found completely by accident during a test for something else, and she had emergency surgery. One more day and she wouldn't have made it- truly a miracle! My sisters were only 4 and 2 at the time- it could have been such a tragedy. But anyway, not to take away fro myour post! I hope everything works out, especially for the sake of your son! (((HUGS)))
