Define "mature"

smdh's picture

Bm posted on someone's fb page that her daughter is "Mature beyond her years." OMG. THis is the daughter that pissed her pants so often when she was 6 you had to send a pack of new underwear to the babysitter each week? (BTW - she only pissed herself with her mother and with her mother's babysitter, never happened while in our care and never happened in school).

This is the same daughter that you think we're "abusing" because we make her make her bed? The one who needs help buckling her belt, tying her shoes and various other tasks a 4 year old can handle?

The daughter who picks up the telephone and doesn't know how to say "hello" (my less than 2 year old knows enough to say hello when the phone rings)?

This mature daughter of yours who yells "ddaaaadddyyy, I could use some help" everytime he tells her to do something that doesn't involve her tent being pitched in his ass?

The daughter you still speak to in babytalk and refer to as your baby at inappropriate times and places?

I guess on BM's scale of maturity it fits considering she is nearing 50 and can't seem to do anything for herself either.

Why are you reading BM's FB comments?

Maturity comes in different forms, imo. It all depends on the bar she's using.

Her bar is notoriously low when it comes to herself and her kid. And I read her comments of FB for 2 reasons 1) i find them incredibly entertaining and 2) her alimony is ending soon and I have no doubt she is plotting a new court battle. She is also a notorious liar and I like to be prepared. Wink

Edited to add: FOr the record, dh's attorney said documenting her fb activity was an excellent idea.

FB worked well in court for us....BM filed a custody suit/CS mod recently, and claimed to be living under the state poverty guideline. Practically every sentence in her affidavit was either a plea for more money from DH, or complaint about how broke she is. The judge was unmoved by her plight after our attorney presented FB posts and pictures of her showing off her new luxury car. It was a bribe for SD to go no-contact with me and DH, but so far SD has never even been allowed to drive it. A few days before court super smarty BM posted a picture of yet another luxury car that she supposedly "traded" her old, broke down POS for, but regardless of how she acquired it, the judge saw through her nonsense.

So yes, FB can be helpful in court. Sometimes just the threat of using particularly stupid posts against someone is enough to get them to back down.

Too funny. Our BM thinks that SSs are sooo bright, happy, well-adjusted.....she's using a similar bar to your BM's I guess. They all seem to be DELUSIONAL! And good for you- if you can use FB as a tool to stay one step ahead of the crazy without the crazy settling into your soul, that's great!

" if you can use FB as a tool to stay one step ahead of the crazy without the crazy settling into your soul, that's great!"

That's exactly the tactic...get your info, but don't let the info take over your brain. There's a fine balance between being consumed, and being prepared. Some people forget that they CAN shut down FB and walk away.

She doesn't take over my brain. I posted it here because it amused me. Her thoughts, judgements, complaints, or life mean nothing to me. I check her drivel once a week. I print it into a document and I go on my merry way.
