I'm such a mean momma!

purpledaisies's picture

My son's grades in 2 classes went way down this 9 weeks and I took EVERYTHING away from him! His car, phone, computer, games, even his library card! yep He loves the library so I took that too.

I am so freaking mad right now! he has NOTHING in his room but his bed and clothes.

However I do wish these teachers would have contacted me much sooner so i could have done this a long time ago! GGRRR

he even put his figures in his ears like a freaking 2 year old! I wanted to knock that kid out! If you see a mom on the news tonight i hurt my kid ok!

Completely understand...I was villified recently on here for telling the kid that he had to get the degree that made the most sense for what he wanted to do, or I was not paying....

Can't you see his grades online? DH checks SS daily to make sure he is on track. I don't on BS17 but then he is harder on himself than I ever could be. I just wish he would lose the attitude. I almost took the truck away this week...Started cleaning his stuff out of it to drive it to my moms to park it and he freaked out and started apologizing for mouthing off....

Do what you gotta do....Someday they may thank us...

Jsmom-I read that post and did not comment but I agree with you. I wish someone had cared enough to point me in the right direction when I was that age.

Our school just recently started posting progress reports online and report cards online. SD15 got her report card, we saw it online last Monday and she tried to lie and say she got it on Friday! Busted!!

Me too. If only someone would have told me that a degree in Broadcasting was a crap shoot and I should major in something more practical. Instead I got out and couldn't get a job and ended up temping at an Investment Banking firm and ended up loving it and had to go back and take some classes to learn about finance while still paying loans for my first degree. And I lived at home the first two years and did community college and still had debt when I was done....

I will be damned if my kid gets a degree that is too general to get a job....

Huh?

Anecdata - A compilation of correlated stories or other single pieces of information produced to appear like actual scientific data. I think I am insulted....

Well everything seemed to be going so well from the last parent teacher conferences that I didn't think much of it.

Till he came home last night and was complaining about a teacher and I called and found out way more then he wanted me too. I swear i want to knock him upside his head!

SD15's newest excuse for a bad grade is that the teacher just doesn't know how to teach. DH flipped when she said this to him!!

I've done this. Almost felt guilty, but it worked. (It wasn't grades related, but girl related.)

Were you hollering and screaming when you took his things away? If so, when you've calmed down, I'd approach him again and say, "Look, I know I was mad and loud, but I'm dead serious. You can earn these things back when you...."
Otherwise, he'll just think it was a tantrum and it will blow over.

I don't feel guilty, all of our kids should be a little bit afraid of us. I am 5 foot and my son is 5'9" and could kick my butt, but he is slightly afraid of his mom. I don't flip out often, but when I do it is usually because he got mouthy and it freaks him out....

I am good with that...But, then I was a single mom for ten years with no Dad (deceased) and honestly it kept the kid in line....And no he was never hit....

I did it and made my kid be the one to pack up all her stuff in storage, and pay me for the lock I bought to keep her from stealing her stuff back.
It works her grades are way better this year (she was an all A student before high school and the divorce)
Ran into the same no idea there is a problem till late in a grade period, and I now have online access.
