Sorry another CS question about the fee.

A while back bm brought a case against dh b/c she said he was 6 weeks behind. We knew we were ahead and told her so and to not open the case as it will only hurt her. Well of course she didn;t listen and they did an investigation and what do you know dh was 1k ahead and she didn;t get any money for 6 weeks.

Ok my question is this now that there is a case open through CS dh gets a bill a fee if you will for it go through them b/c of this. Before it was just going in and going out. But b/c she opened this case there is a fee every dang month and they expect dh to pay it! That makes me mad b/c if bm hadn't opened it there would be no fee. I think SHE should have to pay it since she did this and it was proven it was not needed.

Why are they making dh pay this? I don't understand?

FDH gets a fee yearly to. Your paying for your convience of taking it out of his check and a check being mailed to her. What gets me is both paties should have to pay part of this fee its convient for both of them. And in FDH's case he didn't have a choice its just how the county set it up.

I understand what it is for but what I don't understand is why dh has to pay it. Like I said before bm did this cs was taken out of his check and mailed to her but since SHE opened the case he has to pay the fee, not fair!

That is strange in my state we have a yearly fee, and when I opened my case against my sons BD I had to pay it, and continue with it every year

I would check with the CSE office. In the jurisdiction where my SS's case is held the fee is taken from the CS amount before it is sent to my wife.

Based on our experience this fee situation you describe smells a bit fishy.

It is my understanding that usually the fee is taken from the CS amount and not billed directly to either party.

Good luck.

I was thinking about this today and I think I will have dh call his case worker and find out what the deal is.
