What supportive parenting! (NOT) (and how I "win")

Loca Grande drives over an hour to attend Lazy Boye's track meet yesterday. I was able to attend as well, since the meet was in the town where I teach. Even though I have totally disengaged from her since her psycho outburst in January, I made an effort to be nice and polite. I sat with her and her husband for a bit, but didn't speak unless she spoke to me. Anyway, Lazy Boye was running the mile, and it was very obvious he was going to come in last. She started cleaning up her things and actually left before he even crossed the finish line!

Ugh, I could have strangled her! What the heck?! She was just like, "Tell him he did good. I'll call later." WTF?

The sad part was, Lazy Boye didn't even really care. I took some money to him and he was being goofy infront of his friends and team mates, and telling me "You're the best. Thanks for coming and staying."

I teased him and said the least he could have done after me sitting there for 3 hours was to pick up the pace. The coach was behind me, and told him, "Yeah, listen to your mom. Pick up the pace!" So then all the kids started yelling, "Yeah, listen to your mom..."

And he looks at me, and winks, "Yep, THAT'S my mom! She's the best!"

OHHH! That's so cute! See, the kids do realize who their REAL parent's are after a time.

I love my dad, but he "Isn't" my REAL dad! My step dad is. He's the one who has been there through everything. Sometime's it just happens that way.
