Eureka!

I just had an epiphany! Maybe I'm going about this all wrong. What if instead of keeping my mouth shut regarding puke I use sincere sarcasm instead?

DH: Puke is sick and won't be able to come for her visit. (I know she's lying)

Old me: Oh ok.

New me: Oh dear! That's too bad. I'm sure she'll be feeling right as rain in no time.

Seems more entertaining for me.

Good point. I don't want him to talk to me about puke more than necessary. Maybe leave sarcasm for special occasions.

I like the over concern approach, like Sally said.

I had a crazy exMIL who was always trying to be the centre of attention.
At the rehearsal dinner (which was at my house) for my BIL and SIL, she suddenly took ill. Her tummy hurt and she was acting like a 2 year old.

Me: Get your coat we are going to the hospital.
MIL: Oh, it's not that bad.
Me: Then go lay down.
MIL: No, no, I'll just sit here with my hot water and lemon.
Me: No, the way you are behaving it's obviously something bad. I care about you and if you are in pain you are going to the hospital or you are going to lay down.

She went and laid down for a bit. When she came up she felt much better. She got some attention from that and it seemed to be enough for her.

I bet DH will stop even mentioning Puke if you overreact.
