Clothing Deflection...

Cover1W's picture

This school year it's been made clear that I will not pay anything towards SDs clothing.
It gets lost (at BMs), grown out of (because SD11 will not tolerate anything even a tiny bit too big so it may last 6 months before she grows out of it, instead it takes a couple months and it doesn't fit any longer - at least SD9 can have some of her clothes, but still!), refuse to wear.
I'll buy one or two things if I feel like it but so far I haven't.

DP is now on the receiving end of the clothing issue.
He bought both SDs new fleece pull overs. SD9 loves hers. SD11 hates hers. Will NOT wear it. So he orders another jacket online that she picked out, her size. It comes yesterday. She will NOT wear it because it's "too big." That's what she told DP. Did DP check? No. Did DP talk to her about how jackets fit (big - to go OVER regular clothing)? No. It's just laying on the entry way table. Does SD11 have a jacket at all right now? No.

They went to a before school event this morning and it was a little chilly. Wonder what she wore. She has no sweater, no jacket (that she will deign to wear). Looking forward to hearing how it went.

And the beauty of it, not my problem, not my money.
Relief!

Exactly. She actually had TWO. But since she didn't want the first one it's now her sister's.
I hope DP steps up on this and doesn't get another jacket for her.

But he can't even say "no" to whipped cream...you should have heard her two days ago...DP didn't want to buy ice cream AND whipped cream. SD11 complained to no end. Then when she realized she wasn't getting anywhere she lost it and DEMANDED in the most high-horse tone I have ever heard, "Daddy. You WILL get me WHIPPED CREAM!" I was actually stunned (lucky I was in another room and he couldn't see my face...). His response, "Well....." and then left her room. JEZZUS. Say NO! And for that attitude no whipped cream for 2 months. He got whipped cream. BUT he got it in the little container of "whipping cream" so if she wants it she has to make it.

Yes! But an SD "work?" LOL!
But she was wearing her new jacket when she came home. So that's something. Guess she got cold.
Then I found out DP turned on the house furnace for her today. You know because SD11 was cold (not that cold here yet!), instead of telling her to put a sweater on. I can already tell I'll NOT be paying for more than 1/3 the heating costs this year...and I predicted this and told him this was not going to be acceptable. Put on a sweater and some socks or one of your two pairs of slippers.

SD11 walked into the house yesterday evening WITH THE JACKET ON!
I immediately complimented her and she seemed happy with it even though she still thinks it's "too big." "....SD11 it looks great (and cuter than the photo) and it's a little big so you can wear it over sweaters..."

Success due to SD11 getting cold and forced to wear it.
