Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

Glad you had a decent dialogue with BM, most BMs would start a nuclear holocaust over a text message like you sent. Glad she has offered to step up her game.. now let's hope she follows through.

I have a huge problem with your situation because in the evenings your DH is sitting around on his ass while you are taking care of his kid. If he worked shift work, I could understand. But what excuse does he offer for not at least helping when he is home?
I agree with Git - become less available. If it is difficult for you to be in the house and do nothing, then be gone more. If it will make it easier for you, ease in to it. Work late a couple nights next week (nothing says you have to actually be at work...) The next week work late and go out with a friend one night. Go in early another day.
Like she said, join a gym - that will benefit you in many ways!
You need to be firm. If you have plans, don't break them. If you want to care for SS once in awhile, then do it. But make sure everything is on your terms.
