O/T This Frizzy Hair!

EvilAngel's picture

I can't STAND IT! My hair HATES humidity. I can have it perfectly smooth, step outside and BOOM! Looks a hot mess. I have tried everything I can think of other than buying a straightening product to just permanently make it NOT look like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket. Any ladies out there have this problem and some advice???

If I could afford it I would do it every 4 months and never go off the products. Alas it's not in my budget for the next year.

I bought Kenra shampoo/conditioner and the leave in conditioner...I got nothing. I might have to try this and see how that works for me.

I have smooth strait hair, I heat set after a wash with a blow dryer and hot iron, no frizz, EXCEPT when I used leave in conditioner.
Some reason it made matters worse.

It's fine but I have a LOT of it. It literally looks like a lion's mane right now! I hate having to pull it up all the time because it's long...might as well cut it off but that's a whole other set of issues if I do that!

I like the look of that product. I bought Kenra and it was NOT cheap but it doesn't work AT ALL! Sigh....

The closest one if 4 hours away. Sad But we do have an Ulta. They might have some samples there.

It hasn't been curly in a long time. I use ALL kind of products on it to make it healthier because I have done some damage to it but nothing seems to work. I usually lather it up in coconut oil at least once a week.

I can't blame it on a baby. I don't know if you have ever watched Sons Of Anarchy. BUT if you have...my hair looks like Gemma Teller's on that show. So...it's really dark with super blonde streaks. Pretty sure that has a lot to do with the fact that it HATES me now but it has always gotten frizzy when it's humid out.

Garnier Fructis has some Brazilian Smooth products. I've never tried them - my hair is fine and a lot of products weigh it down and make it look greasy. One thing I use for frizzies is their hair oil. BUT!! Because my hair is fine, I spray twice into one hand, rub my hands together, then work in the bottom half of my hair. AFTER it's dried.

Ooooh I found a way to make a euphemism out of what you said o the very naughty kind! But I won't. I will look up the product instead and see if deep dark Africa stock it.

I will have to check that out. I have some Loreal Smoothing Serum. Doesn't work either. This mane has a mind of its own!

I'm blonde, too, with fine hair. That's why I only use 2 short sprays of the oil and never use near my scalp.

I should have used my straightener this AM but I was running late. Braiding is probably the best way to go!

I wish I could help. I have a shit ton of fine, naturally curly hair as well.

I believe there is a product called Ouidad that is specifically for curly hair. I may try it once my hair grows out a bit. They sell it at Ulta but you should check out their website as well.

I got a pixie cut in 2013 and maintained the short style all through 2014 before moving to HI. By the way...short and fine, curly hair do not mix in HI.

I'm growing it out so I can wear it long and curly (wavy if I let it dry in a scrunchy pulled up on top of my head) again. Sigh.

In the meantime I'm using cod liver oil (since I started using it, my hair has been growing at a rate of a quarter of an inch a month) mixed with a leave in conditioner, along with Wen styling creme. I also use Wen cleansing conditioners as well. I've been using the pomegranate but it's too heavy for my hair so they recommended I alternate between lavender and fig. I'm also changing over to the mousse rather than the gel because it also seems too heavy for my hair.

Wen is not for everyone but my hair responds better to the flat iron when I'm using it. I can get it completely straight but the humidity here does cause my four @#$%^&* cowlicks to curl up after a while. I've got two cowlicks in the front, one on each side of my forehead and two in the back. Grrrrrrr.

I'm going to look into the Livingproof product. I can't use a lot of commercial products because the sulfites and SLS flare up my dermatitis.

As an owner of frizzy hair, I can fully understand you. Though my hair type is probably less frizzy than yours since moisturizers work pretty good for me. But the one thing I discovered last year was hair botox treatment.

Hair Botox is a deep conditioning treatment that gives you easy to manage, frizz-free, and lustrous hair every day. It is a chemical-free anti-aging treatment that works very similar to a keratin treatment. Keratin treatments will straighten your hair and get rid of the curls, whereas Hair Botox relaxes and smooths the curls as well as has more vitamins and antioxidants. You may read more about it here (https://hairspies.com/botox-keratin-hair-treatment/ ), and I highly recommend it!
