Track? Seriously?

SD14 is going out for track this spring. This is a girl who gets exhausted when asked to go up to her room to get something, or walk across the parking lot. Neither fiance or i see her lasting more than 2 weeks. what a waste of money!

the positive is at least she is trying to get involved in an activity, but she has done this before and has always been allowed to quit rather than see it thru. too bad there isnt an instagram/texting club. she'd be president!

My bfs BM is putting her daughter in ballet and tball. This is a kid who cries over everything, screams at other people, and is very disrespectful. I dont see her lasting even on her first day of preschool but its a ploy for more money that he just doesnt have. If this kid has reward for drama queen, shed be the reigning queen.

"but watching her dance was like watching a drunk girl after too many jager bombs"

Bwahahahaha...I feel that way about HHB sometimes when she dances!

I say let her do it! Girl is in for a BIG surprise! I was in track and field...threw shot put and discus...ran 200m hurdles, 400m dash, and the anchor leg of the 1600m relay. Sure, track meets were fun...when you only had to do your event once (well, 3 throws each for shot put and discus). The rest of the time you sat around giggling with your friends. Practices kicked my arse! Someone drop the stinking baton, we were running the relay again. Lucky me, I was the anchor, so I didn't have to run over and over and over again everytime coach stopped because someone dropped, and made everyone set again. The first person...oh, they wanted to kill the baton droppers! I did have to run my solo events no less than 4-5 times each practice, however. Rain or shine...as long as there wasn't lightening! Rain would only stop us from practicing field events...because coaches didn't want to tread around in muddy fields or wet sand pits...also, the pole for the vault would get slippery and make it dangerous. But our track was rubber...made out of recycled tires...so we still ran! We actually welcomed the rain, though...as it is pretty hot in the afternoons around here...even in spring.

Can't wait to hear about all the whining!!

Maybe before you pay the fee, you might want to find out why she REALLY wants to do track. Usually lazy asses have no interest in something that involves running unless a very cute boy is involved. My SS begged to take advanced math (he is a C student) which we later found out was only because he wanted to sit by a certain girl. Kids are stupid generally. They are supposed to learn from their stupid choices. The problem is that these Disney dad's let them back out of everything, coddle them, make excuses for them, and then let them quit while somehow making them feel good about it (and buying them an ice cream to cheer them up). My husband manages to blame every one of skid's failures on the teachers or the other students of the universe in general, but nothing ever has been due to skid himself of course. Could track be a great life lesson for a lazy girl? Of course it could and should be, but without knowing you or your skid at all I am sure it won't be because these skids and their dads are all the same.

Isn't this the truth! HHB has quit everything she has ever insisted on being in! If it turns out to be too much work, or she doesn't get her way...she quits! I was actually shocked that she stayed in color guard as long as she did! Well, she did quit at the beginning of winter guard last school year, and was forced to go back by the band director because she couldn't get her schedule changed. Why she stayed for football season after she didn't make captain is beyond me! My only guess is that she knew that it was the only way DH would let her go to ALL the football games so she could flirt...otherwise, no way in hell he was waiting up to pick her up from some friend and he sure as hell wasn't going to go if he had no reason to!

HHB THINKS she is going to try out for dance, now. If she does make it, I'm sure she will quickly get discouraged because she isn't instantly made some sort of officer because she refuses to put in the extra work outside of the actual school time.
