Had something else that I wanted to write about today, but then this happened.

Background: In Aug we went on a family vacation to the FL Keys. When we got back, I put the remaining body wash that we brought with us in the Skids bathroom. It was a little less than half full.

In Oct/Nov sometime, I mentioned to SO that the body wash in the kids bathroom still had the same amount in it. I told him I wasn't dealing with it and it was on him. Since then, every time he tells the kids to shower, I laugh and tell him that they aren't washing. He hadn't said a word about the body wash not being used.

I also had their bathroom window open ALL week last week because it smelled so bad in there and finally, I cleaned it on Saturday but only because we were expecting guest. Otherwise, I don't touch it.

So yesterday, after the kids shower before going to BM's house, I went into their bathroom to grab a couple of Q Tips because we were out. I walk in and their shower curtain is lying on the ground and the toilet is full of shit. The floor is flooded because they both showed with no curtain. It was lying where it fell. They didn't even bother to move it.

I calming walked up to SO and told him to go into their bathroom. He, of course, was pissed. Yelling at them about flooding the bathroom. SS said he was the one that didn't flush the toilet. I made him do 30 sit ups as punishment for not flushing the toilet. It's a habit that we can't seem to break. I'm sitting on the couch and he is right next to me on the floor with his feet under the couch doing sit ups. The smell coming off of him was horrible. I kept saying, did you use soap? You just got out of the shower and you reek. He kept saying yes he did.

SO leaves to go get a new shower rod because the one in the kids bathroom is shot. While he is gone I make SS go in the bathroom with me and point out what he was using to wash his body. I know it's not the body wash. He admits he didn't use anything. I make him do 30 more sit ups. SD said she used the pump hand soap. :? :? Ok, I guess she had some sort of soap on her body.

I go back into the living room and the entire room now reeks like SS. When SO gets home, he has SS re-shower and stood in the bathroom with him to re-teach him how to shower. The clothes he had just put on 20 minutes prior had to be tossed in the laundry because they smelled so bad already.

We had them since Fri. and I didn't smell the kid until he was doing the sit ups but then again, I don't get to close to him. We don't hug much and he spends most of his time in front of one screen or another in his or SD's room.

I really blame SO, because he has known these kids weren't using anything to wash their bodies. Just another wonderful day in Skid land.

LOL, He's nine and weighs 120lbs. He's pretty fat right now. He was crying while doing the sit ups. Smile

As soon as both Skids find interest in the opposite sex you won't be able to get them OUT of the bathroom. But then you will have that horrible teen funk smell to deal, with, no matter how much soap and perfume they use.

We are actually getting a break from them this weekend. Smile Smile Smile

But when they come back, SS is going to start cleaning the bathroom. At this point it's only been SD, but I think he's old enough now to take turns cleaning it.

Signs!!! Print out a sign that says "30 sits up for every time you don't flush this toilet!" Then stick it right about the toilet or right about the toilet paper roll (just a place he can't miss it). If he hates sit ups enough, the sign will be a good reminder to flush and he will.

We'll maybe since he was crying whilst doing sit ups he might remember the bathroom rules next time he is at yours & DH's house, if not then as lovemyselffirst said get him to clean the bathroom -under supervision so he does a thorough job.

a_nessy_life my SS is 13 and takes ages in the bathroom doing his hair and spraying deo, however still doesn't flush the toilet unless reminded constantly & the shower routine also leaves a lot to be desired. I have told DH that my 4 indoor cats are animals yet they ALWAYS cover their waste when using their litter tray so why is it so hard for SS to remember to flush his?!

Cats are like women, so of course they are the cleaner animal. Boys and men are like puppies. Some are like rabid dogs.... But I've seen grown men forget to flush.... Or think that they will just let a lil gas out and it wasn't gas....

No Skid or Bio should intentionally damage your home. I've seen plenty of both do it though and it's just pure entitlement laziness.

My DH will occasionally (thank goodness it's not frequent!) not flush the toilet after peeing. I find that repulsive! It's not pleasant to go into the bathroom and either smell urine (however faint) or open the toilet cover and see yellow. Ugh! What is with that?! At least he always puts the lid down. I've been teaching my toddlers to ALWAYS flush and wash their hands.

I forgot to add, that I then went and had a shot of rum and SO was said, It's a little early. I just gave him a dirty look.
