Making me the bad guy again

So DH's mother gave each of the 3 kids (SS12, SD11 and BS3) $25 each for Christmas. We agreed to put that money plus the $50 she gave to DH and I towards our season passes for the amusement park next year. These things are $125 each. BSs is a little cheaper since he can get a junior pass. But we're still talking over $500 for the passes and she gave us $175.

The skids ask DH this morning (me out of the room) if they can use some of 'their' Christmas money to go get a stupid frappachino from Starbucks. He says 'no'... first off the money is going towards the park passes and second... it's stupid expensive and kids don't need coffee anyway. Is that the end of story... Noooooo.. of course not.

He feels bad for saying no to the kids so he waits until I am in the room and says 'the kids want to use Christmas money to go to Starbucks'. Of course I say no.. because the money is going to the passes and it's stupid. He had already told them no but didn't like being the bad guy so no it makes me the bad guy. I point this out to him and he says that he just wanted me to be in on the decision... I said they are YOUR KIDS and there is no reason for me to be involved!

Geez... why do these DHs have no clue?!??

The kids really don't get a say in how they use their Christmas money? :? What's the point of grandma giving the kids a gift if they can't decide how to use it? What would da d had done if grandma decided not to give cash gifts?

We agreed as a family that the only way we could afford the $500 is if we put Grandmas Christmas money towards it. If they would rather have a crapachino from Starbucks than an amusement park pass then fine. They are EOWE kids.... plenty of time for us to go to the amusement park without them.

And wouldn't that be so fun next summer...you and your BS at the park and they can sit home and be bored.

Make a big banner that says STARBUCKS and every time they complain, hold it up and smile.

If grandma hadn't given money then we probably wouldn't have gotten passes next year.. or I would have just paid for passes for my son and I. Money is tight.

Mine does that stupid shit too.

Has to consult me on stupid little decisions like that but then turn around and just blurt some really stupid decision on a very important matter.

Since they aren't there full time or for an extended time during the summer, they don't need season passes. Unless they will get to use the passes while they are with BM (if she's willing to pay half and ensure they aren't "forgotten" at her house),why waste money on passes for them?

We live real close to the park.... we could walk. Even as EOWE and 2 weeks in the summer they get used a TON. It's not a waste of money because just going 3 times pays for them and they probably went 12 times last year. The park is open May until Halloween so there is plenty of time to go.

This is when you smile sweetly & say, "why sure they can get coffee... They don't need passes. My kids and I will go alone this summer" }:)
